John Rutter: Requiem - Stephen Layton: Bournemouth Sinfonietta (1997) Many years ago the choir at my church sang parts of John Rutter's equien over a period of 8 months and I loved the music. A few years later, I picked up a copy recorded in 1986 conducted by the composer. I found this version recently and am curious how it compares.
Just got a shipment of CDs to my new address. Had to lead off with this one: Moondog, Rare Material (2006) Moondog was a blind guy who lived on the streets of New York (until a patron shipped him to Germany) while composing some really strange music. Oh, and he generally dressed as a viking: This one is emerging as my favorite cut on the disc. "Invocation."
