After seeing that the East Valley started a thread I think its only fitting that we have one of our own.

I think that it would be nice to be able to get together at least every other weekend to take in a game together and brainstorm a bit on ways to attract new members.???

Count me in! And my roommate. We'll be moving in the first weekend in June.

Also, we are probably going to get a house, and I'm bringing my 46" HDTV and Dish Network. Currently I get FSC, GolTV, and WorldsportHD... so I may host some weekly games if anyone is interested. I do that with my friends here and it'd be a great way to meet some peeps.

Howdy Y'all, Anyone going to the AZ Sahuaros match this Saturday? Thought I'd follow Ron's advice & support what soccer we have now. Maybe we could meet for eats before the 7pm start, or even do a double match by watching the Dynamo @ NY at a pub first.

The match is at Grand Canyon Univ @ 35th ave & Camelback. I know the George & Dragon is a nice pub about 4.5 miles away @ Central & Indian School Rd. Don't know if there's anything closer or better.

Anybody on the westside going to watch the CL final May 23rd anywhere? I'd like to go watch it in a place surrounded by other soccer fans as well.

    Hey Westsiders!

The UEFA Champions League trophy is going to be on your side of town this weekend. Saturday evening it will be at Buffalo Wild Wings in Avondale at McDowell and Dysert (map). Sunday it will be at University of Phoenix Stadium during the Copa PanAmericana final between Boca Juniors and Cruz Azul. For more information visit www.worldnetsoccer.com.

Tickets for the final are now being sold at 2 for 1! Come out to support soccer and also to support MLS Phoenix Rising. MLS PR has a booth next to section 135 in the stadium concourse. Come by and say hello, and stay for a bit to help with the MLS PR membership drive!!!

The next meeting for the MLS Phoenix Rising Board will take place on Thursday, August 2nd starting at 7:00 p.m. at the George & Dragon Restaurant in Phoenix . The G&D is located on Central Avenue, just north of Indian School Road on the west side of Central. If you have become involved with our group, or would like to become more involved, please attend.

    West Side Roll Call

I'm curious of how many there are of us that would prefer to meet in the West rather than travel to Central Phx or East Side for get togethers such as chapter meetings & match viewings.

I didn't see many Westsiders at the Copa PanAmericana, but I remember the UEFA Champions cup viewing well represented at RTOs.

I'm also trying to gauge if we have any folks interested in having an active role as chapter officers.

JDevellish: I think this meeting will serve to get the overall organization on track, including the 3 area chapters.
This includes(but not limited to) coordinating the membership list, website, etc, as well as filling slots on the board of MLSPR.
Doing this will make it easier for each chapter board to communicate with its members and arrange their local meetings.
I hope to see you Aug 2.

Howdy SWS, Sorry, but you didn't help me here.

Going in to this weeks meeting I wanted to know:

    1. How many of us West Siders are currently active enough to scan soccer boards.

    2. How many West Siders want to have an active West Side Chapter.

    3. How many West Siders are interested in taking an active role as a Chapter officer.

    Saludos,
    Jethro

    1. My wife says I'm to active scanning BS.;)

    2. I would like to have a WV chapter but have no problems driving North of I-10 along the 101 or off of I-17. I live on the NW curve of the 101 and would rather not drive to the SE if I don't have to.

    3. What kind of roles?

Unfortunately I haven't had many free nights recently and am not free until the 7th. Starting the 8th I'll be free for anything (including meetings again) after 4pm.

JDevellish: Wish I could answer your specific questions before the meeting, but that in fact is one of the items to be put in order.

There is no(to my knowledge) single database of members. Additionally, I do not believe that most of the members are in a digital format, other than the attached Word doc applications. Therefore, as of now, there is no way(other than by hand) to sort members by locale, interest, etc.

Membership data is obviously an item on the agenda. There is a mechanism waiting in the wings to have an online membership form that would automatically add the new member to the existing member list.
See where I'm going with this?:)

As to scanning the net for Phoenix MLS references, I did just a tad of that and posted on the MLSPR website on the 'Message Board' page.
While you are there, please check out the other pages as many of them have been recently updated. You'll notice(if you knew from before) that the links to the 3 chapter pages have been temporarily removed. I thought it best not to have pages with old, little, or no info for when we refer others to the site to maximize our public exposure.

Have you ever sold radio? The valley has a new station 101.5 Jamz or something like that. I used to be in radio, although I wasn't in sales, I could tell those guys were raking in all the big bucks.

    Howdy WVMLSPR!

Please join me this Saturday for a match viewing at RT O'Sullivans. The MLS Western Conference Championship first touch is at 6:30pm.

We haven't had a chapter meeting in awhile, so I'll bring you up to speed & run thru the agenda at halftime.

    See ya there,
    Jeffrey

p.s. don't forget to wear orange or blue to support your team, or if you prefer red, bring $ to salve your sorrows with cervesa;)

Everyone in attendance had a good time watching Houston advance to the MLS Cup.

Is there any interest to get together for the Cup match this Sunday morning?

RTO's is open early & serves breakfast, but I'm open to any location on the West side if somebody wants to try another spot. RTO's has good food & service, but you can't hear the the play by play.
