I haven't posted much here lately as I've been having major work issues before my last week! YES! However, I just started this weekend's game thread. This new interface is very nice indeed for such things. Lots of potential in there I think.
Yes. the @tag is stole from facebook, anyone who is tagged will get notified when the log in or get an alert if they are already logged in. It is like paging someone to a thread.
Cheers, I can see it being useful at times. So if someone had a question about German football in the other teams thread and as well as wanting general opinion would particularly like to hear what Sir M had to say on the matter they could tag him up and draw his attention to the post (if he has the alert turned on). For Sir M on German football see Tom Clare on United history, Vince on skinny jeans etc. Pretty nifty!
I still don't see how that works -- and I haven't turned on the alerts because I don't want a zillion emails coming to me.
@lynne You just type it like that, and if the person has the "Receive an alert when someone...... Tags you" box checked, it will show up in the alerts section at the top of the page. You don't receive an email when it happens as far as I'm aware, and at the moment it's the only alert I have turned on. The rest of them seem like they'd happen too often or aren't particularly interesting as far as I'm concerned. I can see if someone has replied to a watched thread by seeing if the thread title is in bold or clicking on the watched threads tab towards the top left for example so don't really see the point of that one. As far as I can see, the only thing you'd get an email for is if you have "Receive email when a new conversation message is received" under the "Contact details" thread. Just turned that one off now as the message will show up in my inbox anyway, with a little number showing the number of new messages at the top right next to the inbox icon.

And then embed that number into the message. Is there a list to pull from?
Yay, you got there in the end! Did you not get a little pop-up box with auto-complete in it suggesting who's username you were going for once you typed the first few letters? It's still reliant on spelling those first few letters correctly but at least it's some help.
Huh? click reply, look at the toolbar up top, chose your smiley - it is towards the right of the list of functions in the top row.
