Awesome. I heard a rumor about this a few months ago. The more the merrier! As if this year wasn't going to be fun, next year will be even better!

    FCNY.

Looking forward to all the rest of the news -- badge, colors, etc.

I think alot of people who are disillusion with the Metro/redbull/mls will get behind this team.

they will already have a reginal rivialry with Rochester. plus any USOC matches with the Redbulls would be fantasic.

Hopefully they plan on doing right and are in it for the long haul.

    good luck!

Rochester's closer to Cleveland than NYC.

yes but the rivialry between upstate NY and the NYC is there on many levels. Dont think cleveland and rochester have anything other than just being close geographically close to one another.

    Very nice to hear.

As a Queens native I know that the borrough is ripe for soccer.

I hope that a stadium can be procured somewhere, preferably Flushing Meadow Park. IMO, that would be a great spot.

I do worry about a teams viability for the long term in Hofstra, Randalls or Columbia. We just don't need a Centaurs Part II and I think that is what Hofstra would turn into. Columbia is out of the way to say the least and Hofstra is LI of course. Not NYC.

I will follow the process and if a stadium in Queens is being sought just update ASAP (as I'm sure you guys will) and I will do what I can to help support.

    Best of luck.

Just think in a couple of years, we can see FCNYC vs NYREDBULLS in group stage of CCL

Hell, if RBNY can ever qualify for the Open Cup, that's sure to be the matchup. Year after year. Just like Rochester - Revs.

trust me, with the organization of the Borough Boys, and our contacts
within NYC already...we're gonna make this team one of the most supported
teams in USL-1. I can't freaking wait man....

Right, so it's ok to call the Red Bulls "New Jersey" because they don't play in NYC, but yet THIS NEW TEAM WON'T EITHER.

You're a hypocrite, as is anyone else in the NYC cult who supports this team.

sorry, they are going to be playing in Inwood, and Columbia, AND Hofstra..
so ...that makes them playing in NYC at some points right??
How often does RedBull play in the State of New York?
Plus, the will eventually build a stadium within City Limits...
and as for your attitude... F*ck off.

yeh... mastershake..go away.. they havent even announced where they are playing.. just said their options. i never said that i would not support a team if it wasen't from NYC.. just not a team with jersey roots. i want a NY team and now we have one..you really are just looking for excuses to just bash..how old are you? really don't call me a hypocrite when you have no idea who i am.. you stay on your side of the river and i'll stay on mine

But they're primarily based at Hofstra. That ain't NYC.

I mean, if RBNY played a game or two a season in the NYC limits, you wouldn't suddenly say they're a NYC team, would you? And who cares about the state boundaries, it's about the city, not the state.

They might build a stadium, but again, ask the Jets and Nets how well that's going for them. The Jets NYC project is dead, and the famous architect working on the Nets Brooklyn project thinks the same.

Maybe Hempstead United will have better luck, but it ain't a given.

what's your sick fetish with giving us crap?
you followed us into this thread just to try to piss on our parade.
We (the borough boys) have worked day and night since Nov. 2007
to get a professional team (granted we still want MLS, we always said we'd take USL-1 (especially now)).
    So..sorry if we are excited....
back off, and go worry about your stadium that should be built any year now.

Good news. This is the ideal way in my view for two teams to call the NY metro area home. I don't like the idea of the same league(MLS) potentially having two teams in one place, while others have none.

USL1 is growing and that's great. Now we just have to make sure it doesn't lose any more teams. Stability will be key in bringing the respectability of the league up. Hopefully USL pounces on every city and area under served by MLS, and grows into a strong, stable second division.

For kicks and giggles, here's a kit and crest design I did for a NY team awhile back(I borrowed heavily from FDNY but c'mon it's too perfect). Also, the sponsor's not so feasible anymore lol. If your wondering the league logo on the sleeve/back is one I did in a USL rebrand project over on sportslogos.net. IMO, USL could use a rebranding(flaming soccer ball? gimme a break), and reshaping the league by adding NYC, Tampa Bay, and perhaps Orlando and St. Louis may just warrant such a move.

They are playing 2010 at Hofstra. Read the first post, it says it right there.

So you hate teams from New Jersey then. I see.
