Glad to see Ayre righting the ship and making good on LFC's commitment to Suarez. CL is essential to him staying here so Ayre has got do the business in Jan to help tip the balance. Heard he's on 200k/week so he afford all that Corona.
Seriously.... what a goddamn puzzle of a man. Reportedly 75 million over 4.5 years! So, yeah. Really hoping there's no crazy escape clauses for that kind of money, but I really wouldn't be surprised if it's in there.
The club are not going to weaken their bargaining position with respect to keeping him. The player has weakened his position with respect to leaving in exchange for a hefty pay-rise.
Barrett suggesting its a non-english club only clause in excess of what was paid for Bale. Suarez certainly weakened his position when it comes to leaving, but in addition to the hefty pay raise, he likely also got some assurance of continued investment and based on our current league position, CL next season is looking increasing likely. So from his perspective, its a reasonable risk.
Wow. That would be insane if true, if he signed that then surely he is going nowhere... Reading a few things that say 60-70 million is the figure, which makes a lot more sense but all the sources at this point seem shaky. Getting top 4 will surely sort this out for next season... hopefully they keep it going and can lock that up sooner rather than later.
It's not insane at all. He's worth Bale money and if he wants a clause that will stick, that's the price it will need to be.
Bale isn't worth Bale money. If it was based only on skills, he would be worth 120M euros... but that's not how those fees are calculated. He's less marketable than Bale, and I just don't think anyone would pay that for him. Which if it's true is great, because that means he's not going anywhere for years.
1. This is a good omen for the Winter and Summer transfer windows. I think FSG realize that they have a player capable of playing like Messi/Ronaldo and selling as many shirts. They needed to keep this player and now they need to surround him with a few more players to start winning things. 2. I'd like to say a big personal "Suck It!" to everyone who was convinced that he was leaving in January.
For Real Madrid, maybe. But then that lot has a different business and football model. He's still sells shirts for Liverpool and I'm willing to bet when it's all said and done, he'll outsell Bale.
Remember when the benchmark for a good striker was 20 goals a season? 20 goals and it's still only January, and this after missing the opening 6 matches
With Sir Suarez doing what he's been doing (scoring) I fear that the rest of the league will step up their "defense" against him - marking him with two or three players and kicking him at every chance...he's sure to get the "defensive attention" which will lead to more and more bruises, niggles and knocks...he has been remarkably resilient and as far as I can remember has not missed a game in a Reds shirt for injury reasons... I can't see him continue on the scoring streak that he's been on (although I certainly love it) as defenses will focus more on him...which should open up more opportunities for others...which screams for another quality striker (Sturridge???Sterling) who can score goals...it also screams for midfielders who can run through the openings Suarez creates and score goals (Coutinho, Henderson...these guys need to step up and finish their chances) I really like where we are, and where we are headed...Here's to a fantastic finish in 2014!
With Sturridge coming back I think we'll see both Suarez and Sturridge scoring for fun, as defenses won't really have an answer for both of them.
