Congrats, guys! (oops, an interloper already!) I wonder if the Detroit MLS thread should join the forum.
Can't wait to see CCS beating Detroit silly in USL1! I can't wait for them to join the league, it'll be fun with a lot of roadtrips, I'm sure.
And we can't wait to hand out some whuppings of our own! The way the new USL-1 is shaping up, there will be room for quite a few roadtrips, that's for sure.
Ok, I'll start it now. Cleveland beat Detroit? Hahahaha Ok I'll have to see it to believe it, but I will say it will be a nice rivalry for sure. Look forward to waxing you guys.
We should probably use this for introductions and current affiliations. I will start, I am Andrew the president of MCS, just call me Kruz (cruise). I am a glorified figure head and just do a lot of delegating....and drinking. If you have questions feel free to throw them at me. I am an Arsenal, Crew and Bucks fan. An FYI to all I have a few of the inaugural scarves left and we sell merch on our site. Up the Arse and everything Detroit!!
Since Kruz has started this, I feel I'm next in line to continue the introductions. I'm Tavio, the MCS Vice President. I run the website (including our own forum), deal with whatever media opportunities may come around (aside from, you know, the figure role - that's Kruz's gig), and keep myself busy with other soccer projects (have my own BigSoccer blog, and help work on the official-unofficial website of the US Open Cup). As for teams, I'm a Bucks fan, first and foremost, and I also keep tabs on AC Milan and Palermo in Serie A.
I will continue the icebreaker. I'm Donald...been a member of MCS since its foundation and was part of the many discussions we had over the years here on BS about forming a supporters group. While I currently live in the DC area, I'm a native of Michigan and spent my entire childhood there, minus 2 years in Texas. I am an attorney (seeking employment opportunities for anyone that's hiring! ), operate 2 blogs (Life in 1-1-8 and Word Life), serve on the DC alumni boards for Duke University and the University of Miami (including helping to found a Miami Law alumni chapter), as well as serve on the board (and a founding member) of the American Outlaws DC Chapter. Despite my distance from The D, I remain active in MCS. My main club team is Real Madrid, and I follow DC United and the Michigan Bucks as well. I'm a huge USMNT fan and cheer for Spain as well.
I guess I'll go next. I'm Alan. I'm a Toronto FC season ticket holder and follow Manchester City in the Prem. I've been going to Bucks games on and off for several years, and got involved when MCS was organized. There are a lot footie people in the metro Detroit area, we just need to make connections because we all just doing our own thing. Groups like MCS and the new AO chapter once that gets going, will help create some new and bigger soccer community.
Not a detroit fan but Im Mikey and support the Charleston Battery. I think I met DetroitTFC last spring at the Carolina Challenge Cup (You coming back this spring?) What the latest rumor out of our area as far as USL? My hope is that now that Charleston has dropped, Cleveland's reported new ownership can work it out for USLD2 team in 2010. Adding Detroit to that mix would be great IMO, at least until we can see how everything stablizes in the lower divisions of US soccer See if FCNY wants to come in at USLD2, and you have a pretty good band of teams from NYC, Pittsburg, Harrisburg, Cleveland, Maryland. If Wilmington can get back in soon and with Charlotte, Richmond, and Charleston. Imthinking that looks like a pretty stable and competative league. Hey, I can dream and hope for the best right?
No, I haven't made it to any of the CCCs yet. I might go this year. My mother lives in Myrtle Beach. I typically visit MB during Christmas so have never been able to catch any games while I'm in SC. I have to defer my visit this year so I might come down in March to combine a visit there and catch the tourney too.
If you do make it down let us know. and If you have any questions please feel free to ask (either by PM or in the CCC thread on the Battery subforum) As you know it is probalby about 2 hours from MB to the stadium. The TFC fans are making their plans for a couple houses by the beach on Isle of Palms (IOP) Several sources both here in Charleston and there in Toronto have confirmed they are returing this year.
HUGE we have our own Fourm ::)) Congrats guys now all we need is to yell and scream bang on our drums and get our own team.
Hi all, I'm new to the boards. Long time Celtic supporter, recently started following Chelsea after a group of my friends and I just arbitrarily picked EPL teams to support. Glad to see all the coverage and interest the World Cup is generating, but I'm interested in keeping in touch with fellow fans once the WC is over, hence my joining up here. Anyway, my name is Mike, I'm from Royal Oak and I'm 32 years old. I guess that covers the basics. cheers, and go USA
Holy crap! Lookee here a real live Detroit(ish) forum! My name is Sean, I'm currently living in Stuttgart, Germany but lived most of the years of my life in and around 9 mile road and Woodward Ave! Some day we'll get an MLS side. (Till then, Go Bucks!) Right around the time that Detroit gets a light rail system...
