And 80s. I was thinking that London Calling was released in 79 so I looked it up and I am half right. It was released in December 1979 in the UK and January 1980 in the US. After London Calling, Sandinista and Combat Rock were also released in the early 80s. In addition, Black Market Clash (which I think is some of there best work) was recorded at different times in the late 70s but also was released in the 80s, just before Sandinista. So, I would definitely include them in the "good music of the 80s" category. In addition, I think most of the touring they did in the US happened in the 80s.
There was tons of great music in the 80's. However, similar to today, you won't see much, if any, of it on the radio or Billboard charts edit: oooops, almost forgot to include actual "weird"ish news: http://news.aol.com/article/2-men-spent-25-days-on-floating-ice-box/311421 The radio story I heard this morning said something about them eating fish that had been regurgitated by birds (this story does not say that). The DJ said "now there is a diet I could lose alot of weight on"
Can't beat this headline: Flaming Squirrel To Blame In Jones Wildfire http://www.koco.com/cnn-news/18530377/detail.html
"Remember the great fire of 1979 that supposedly started in your garage when that chipmunk ingested some fertilizer and then fell into a can of kerosene instantly turning him into a flying little fluffy little Molotov cocktail that set a blaze leveling the whole neighborhood west of Newton's hardware store?"
High on my list of guilty pleasure cinema. Yes, I'm calling Bio Dome "cinema." Big whup. Wanna fight about it?
Any movie using The Safety Dance and having an actual little person dance like in the video is a quality movie.
Not judging. I was toying with starting an under appreciated comedies thread for Men at Work and Kuffs. "Never trust a bald barber. He has no respect for your hair."
