I think you're right. Maybe more of the people who have tickets (dispersed via whatever means) are showing up than before.
It's also possible that there were more people sitting on the side behind the player benches. Everytime the TV camera would pan down or to the sides, when cornerkicks were taken, you could see a lot of heads; moreso than on the other side of the stadium.
From what I've heard, PHP has excellent sightlines all over the stadium, including the concessions lines. So, really, there are people all over the stadium watching the game, not just sitting in their seats.
The FO sent me an email trying to sale seats for $16 piece in four-packs for the Thursday night match on the side that the camera was showing. The problem is that in true MLS fashion, they started promoting this on thursday morning. When will they learn?
Hey - it sounds like your front office is trying to steal ideas from our front office Actually, ours has gotten pretty good of late. I dont understand some cfof the decisions they make - but at least we can get quick responses on the really important things. At the opening of the Igloo - I mean the Dick, there was no Fat Tire beer in the vendors closest to our section. That was corrected for the second match Still couldnt get them to come down onthe price of beers - but hey they gotta pay for the new stadium - so I cant bitch too mcuh. Also, they gave us a sectin of the parking lot where we are less likely to offend normal people - so taht is good for everyone involved jeff
Again, I thought the crowd looked pretty good for a thursday night. When they announced that they were going to do "destination viewing" on Thursday nights, I was concerned with how it would look and hoped that the league would sell the hell out of tickets for these games and it appears they are. Ok, the execution was a bit off when they promote four packs starting day of game. But still, doing that, and columbus doing buck-a-brat night is a good start. I just received an email from the Fire that the May 17th Thursday game is college night with discounted tickets with a college ID and $1 hot dogs. We will see how that affects the crowd, but I am glad to see them doing things to boost that tv game attendance.
i agree - i hope the clubs will encourage people that call or walk up to these games to sit in the sections taht are covered by the camea anlges the most. Sure cant hurt jeff
Average attendance for 2007: 15909.9130434783 Pretty good Now if only we can find the .9130434783 of a person who keeps going to MLS games...
Toronto and LA/Chivas fans ruled the day, maybe even the weekend. We will see what can happen. Is it just me, or do fans seem more passionate this year as a whole?
Am I the only one that is not impressed with them both playing at home and filling the place? 13,500 a piece, not that big of a deal.
