Last home game of the season. A pont anywhere gets us into the CL, and we have an outside chance at third being only two points behind Schalke. But Schalke were playing Augsburg last week and drew, so that should keep us alert.

With Dante now gone, I'm almost wondering if 5th would not be better as you get more guaranteed games. I don't think we last too long in the CL. BTW, Uwe, is Fuerth in the Europa League as best Pokal runnerup??

No Fuerth isnt in EL. 5-7th gets EL places instead.

And we are getting much more games with 4th then 5th spot mate. If we was getting 5th spot we could risk to only play 2 games. With 4th spot we will 100 % play 8 games. (2 CL qualifications) And if we lose, we are in the EL groupstage.

I thought the EL group stages only went to those teams who lost out in the CL group stages. And I thought the Cup Winner got a slot somewhere, as the old Cup Winners Cup was discontinued.

If Fuerth had made it to the final then they would have got a EL spot no matter what, but because of the final is Dortmund - Bayern the place just goes to the 7th spot in Bundesliga.

With the CL, all the losers of the last qualification will get to the EL groupstage. When CL groupstage begins all the 3th spots will go to the 1/16 in the EL knockout. I hope it makes sense.

I spent about 20 minutes looking it up and trying to figure it out.

And I though the way *we* do playoffs in the US is crazy.... But it's all about the Euros (money, that is).

I would hope the team wants to win big as a Thank You to the fans for the support, especially from the player's leaving after this season.

    My prediction is 3-0 Gladbach.

If we want to enjoy a final game for "spot 3" on last matchday, we have to win this match! And I'm confident that the guys will manage to get the 3 points in their last home game of the season in another sold-out Borussia-Park (except for the guest section), even though Augsburg is a very dangerous opponent (our former coach Jos Luhukay is doing a great job there) when knowing that they haven't lost on the road for a long time and still need points to be save.

Last chance for our fans to enjoy Marco Reus at BP, we'll surely be missing him a lot.

No matter of today's result, I'm sure that the crowd is going to give a big applause to team & manager for this great season! :)

Well we all know how that one went!
As ken mentioned we may very well be fighting relegation again next year!
Unless M Eberl & Lucien Favre can do some more miracle, but we certainly have lost the wind from under our wings and with the departure of Marco Reus and Bob Marley(Dante) we would be facing some serious tactical issues!
Playing in europe after so many years will also add incredible stress to our squad and it only makes sense to effect our bundesliga performance negatively, unless we exit Europe fast and quick!
Very very disappointed with todays performance.Maybe its a good thing i could not watch it:confused:

But in general todays result would have not helped us much during next
season, as i said unless favre and eberl can really bring in solid talent. Both for our regular XI and also develop some depth for our "Bench"!
    Both areas are very challenging!

On the plus side, there is a lot of money to spend. A lot. We are good at developing players. But I also think this year's success was forged in the trials of the previous season. This was a real team because of what they went through. Once Reus decided to leave, that cohesiveness dropped off quite a bit. We were no more than an average team the last 10 weeks of the season. I think they put it into cruise control.

I somewhat agree about your "cruise control" theory, but that gets scary when you think the fact that our team has been coached by lucien favre, a coach that must somewhat avoid such state of mind among his players!
I mean there is a huge load hanging off lucien farves shoulders regarding our success this season and that he was a key factor in producing it.I guess the new season and our performance will be a good test of farves coaching and tactical/technical genius:confused:

    Gloom-monger! :p

I've been disappointed as well (this 0:0 was as boring as the one against Hertha Berlin). And Favre obviously, too. Unfortunately, it seems that the team didn't really believe in spot 3 anymore and therefore only wanted to definitely secure spot 4.

Nevertheless, the guys (rightfully) got celebrated by the Nordkurve for a fantastic season! CL quali + Cup semi-final after last year's "almost-disaster" ... that's a reason to be proud & happy, isn't it? :)
