Looks like High Pt beat Campbell 5-4 in pk's after 4-4 in regulation

Yeah, I'll be surprised if Seattle doesn't sign him to a homegrown deal this winter. He's a had a really strong So. season.

Clemson wins on PKs over BC.

Good news that they advanced but they needed Ws to creep towards .500 and this didn't do it for them.

So Clemson could win two more matches - QF + SF - on PKs (i.e. two 'drawn' matches), then lose the Final (say, on PKs), and not make the NCAA tournament? Assuming Clemson doesn't win the ACC Final and get an automatic bid, what needs to happen for them to qualify?

I've seen him play for a long time. Great to see he finally seems to be putting it all together.

It's mathematically impossible for Clemson to get an at-large bid.

Their current record is 6-8-5 and they have, at most, two games left before the selections are announced. To get an at-large bid, they need at least a .500 record and a good RPI. To get a .500 record, they have to win their next two games and if they win their next two games, they'll get the automatic bid.

At this point, it's auto-bid or bust for the Tigers.

If they don't win the ACC Tournament, they'll spend the off-season ruing losses to bad San Diego State and South Carolina teams and tying a sub-par Davidson.

I think I confused the issue with my post, sorry. That first (QF) 'win' is already a technical 'draw' (v BC), so win-win-loss is no longer possible.

    Yep.

Though win-win-loss wouldn't have done it as it would have left them 8-9-4.

    Meanwhile, in Big West land...

-UC Davis and Cal State Northridge are good for the NCAAs if both reach the Big West finals.
    - UC Davis is in if they make the finals regardless of what happens between Northridge and Cal Poly. Davis would have done enough.

    - Cal Poly probably needs to win the tournament to dance, and Cal State Fullerton definitely needs to win.

Amusing point #1. If Fullerton somehow wins the BW Tournament they will be the sole representative in the NCAAs.

Amusing point #2. Theoretically, Fullerton reaching the national title game would mean they have played 28 games this year - 2o during the regular season, 2 in the BWT, 6 in the NCAAs. I dunno what the maximum limit for a season is but it should be looked into.

And a few miles away from Obama's headquarters, UIC is out. Election blues?
Loyola 4 X UIC 3 in a highly emotional quarter final of the Horizon league.
Very disapointing season for UIC, my Alma Mater.

Wouldn't Loyola, ya know, of CHICAGO, be dealing with the same election issues? ;)

I know Rogers Park isn't as close to Obama HQ, but the whole city is coo-koo for Obama-puffs.

New Hampshire beats Vermont 1 nil in the first America East final. IIRC, that's the 6th straight year the regular season winner of the confeence fails to win the conference tourney.

Tonight's second game at 7 will be UMBC vs Stony Brook.

2-1 now with 5 to play.

edit: and that's how it ends. 2-1 msu. m state plays #1 seed penn state on friday.

this loss has to take iu out of consideration for a seed in the NCAA tournament right?

Somewhere, Mike Freitag is having a chuckle.

    Consideration? No.

There are several teams in the mix for those last 2-3 byes and don't underestimate geography in all this. A lot will come down to what the other teams from 12 to about 20 in the RPI do this week.

Hey Sandon, do you see Davis or Northridge getting a bye if either wins the BW auto bid?

UC Davis 2, Cal State Fullerton 0.

Davis (10-6-4) advances to the Big West finals.
