Why even have a thread. The board is just going to screw it all up anyway.

Uh, how about a big fat 'zero", "zilch", "nada", 'goose egg", "duck", et al.

Ever hear of Denilson? how about Diaby? I have a good feeling about these two--more athletic and skilled than the new AC Milan squad player, all they need is a tad bit more seasoning..

Travarelli - you want evidence that Hleb needs to shoot? How about from this:

Hleb’s ability as a creator of chances has never been in doubt. One criticism that was levelled at him during his first two seasons was a lack of cutting edge in front of goal. However, this season, in addition to regular assists - the latest for Fàbregas’s equaliser at Anfield on Sunday - the Belarussian has been weighing in with his share of the goals, with three so far, although he believes that it should be four, after a deflected strike in the 7-0 win over Slavia Prague was chalked up as an own goal.

“Last season, the manager and my agent, Nikolai Spilevski, both told me I should shoot more often,” Hleb said. “I would often pass the ball when I had a chance to score myself. Now I am going for goal more often and it’s producing results.”

That quote was from early this season when Hleb was going for goal more aggressively. Of course, he seemed to stop going for goal, which would seem to indicate that he resumed the habits he was trying to break.

    Here's a qoute from a week ago:

Hleb has shed the diffidence that marked his first two years at the Emirates and won over the Arsenal crowd, who thought him too lightweight for the Premier League, but admits that he still freezes in front of goal, often choosing the easy option rather than taking the responsibility of scoring himself. “What is it that stops me from shooting sometimes?” he asks. “I know I pass the ball when I’m in a good position and I’m thinking ‘that was a good chance’. It all goes back to my childhood, to my coach, who always said ‘pass, pass, pass’.”

If Flam's wage demands were too high, why would we spend as much or more on an older version of him? Not a bad replacement, just don't see it happening.

That page also brought up this gem:
Arsenal midfielder Alex Hleb wants to leave the club, which will alert Inter Milan. The Belarus international has questioned the Gunners' ambitions. (Independent)

Here's the article. No quotes in it though so wouldn't give it too much value:

So, now that he's signed for another team, would Arsene play him for the last game?? I imagine not. Technically, he's under contract until June 30th, wonder if he's allowed in training at our training facility during this time period? Must make for an awkward arrangement, given that he's committed and signed before our season has even ended.

If this is indeed true, then Hleb is upset that Arsenal let Flamini leave?

I guess he has a right to be dissapointed, they seemed to get along well, but I find this very hard to believe.

EDIT: Wow I just stated the obvious, how insightful

Didn't bother to read the full article first.

Can't remember the last time I was on the first page of a tranfer thread, how cool

I don't think he'll play. If solely for the reason that his head will be elsewhere.

I think its a money thing... these guys are not getting paid big club salaries...

out of the 150 top earners in football, only Gilberto and Gallas made the list

Are we getting so hurt by transfers in recent years that we now react negatively against the players before they even leave?

Are some of you still mad at Henry?

If Hleb leaves, he leaves. If not, that's great. But unlike some on this board I refuse to question his abilities and role in the team because there are rumblings he may off to Inter.

If he does go, though, the "want" of some on this thread will definitely turn into a "need" for a replacement.

I don't know much about what's really going on in our Club, but judging from the outside it seems that Wenger and the entire board are failing to keep talent at the club. It's time for the board room to shift their ass and talk about winning trophies instead of financial performance. Seriously we lose Hleb and we're effed next season and we won't win jack shit. Even if we find a replacement, we will still have a depth issue, which was one of the main reason why we haven't won any trophies this season. I'm sick and tired of the young squad BS and I'm sick and tired of talking about potential, time to effin deliver.

I'm putting my faith in Diaby to have a breakout season.

Don't fool yourself, people have been questioning his abilities all year long this season. he's played fine this year, but the question remains: is he a player that can help you get to the summit?

You're not a disloyal fake fan if you question a player's ability.
