Then there is this. NE Revolution IN: M Andy Dorman (11/15/12 - Right of first refusal signing on free transfer from Crystal Palace) M Kalifa Cisse (11/19/12 - Discovery signing on free transfer from Bristol City); Not much going on with this "draft" 1. I assume any team picking up a waived player would have to take over their contract. 2. So teams are just cutting down their salary before the other draft. BTW just how many drafts does the MLS have? about 8 or 9 right.
I always wanted to know the difference between a supplemental and a regular "Super" draft? Why not have just one draft with 5-7 rounds? I mean why and what is the point of having two different drafts?
The CBA defines how many draft rounds there are, but not how it is scheduled or marketed. There have been various reasons for splitting the draft over the years, but they way it has evolved is that the SuperDraft has been cut down to 2 rounds to keep it short and media-friendly, and then the supplemental draft is a low-key way to complete the remaining required rounds.
