I saw it from the front. It looked like it was on a roundabout, but could have just been a couple curves from the straightaway. EDIT: yes, it was on a roundabout
Just saw it. They were exiting a roundabout. Nasty, nasty pile-up. They had nowhere to go. It looks like Horner went down _hard_.
Funny quote: "I was very worried about the stages in Holland, because the roads there are designed for grandmas riding their bikes at 10kph, not for a modern race,” said Columbia-HTC sport director Brian Holm. “I’m glad that no one seems seriously injured." http://www.velonews.com/article/97312/large-crash-marks-end-of-vuelta-stage
I'm somewhat disappointed that Farrar hasn't won a stage yet, but so it goes, I guess. Interesting to see what comes out of today's time trial.
Spartacus takes the time trial victory today finishing ahead of David Millar by 32 seconds. Here is today's top 15. # 1. Fabian Cancellara (SUI) Team Saxo Bank, 30km In 36:41 # 2. How about Vino? Top 15 in your first major time trial since coming back from suspension is pretty impressive regardless of his past.
He blew up today though. Goes to show that the mountains are the true test of a rider's form. Cunego got a good win today, very happy about that. He looks in good form for the Worlds. Most of the favourites finished close together, Evans takes the leader's jersey by 2 seconds over Valverde. Andy Schleck also abandoned.
I know he's a bit of a tool, but after the crappy Tour de France that he had, I'm actually kind of rooting for Cadel. Tom Danielson also doing well, which is kind of surprising.
I hope he does well too, although he did say before the race that he was only riding it as preperation for the Worlds. Then again, now he has the leader's jersey he may just have a change of heart... who knows. Nice to see Tommy D do well too, especially after everything he's been through over the past couple of years. One of the most naturally talented riders out there but sadly has never quite been able to fulfill his potential.
What a difference a day makes no? I most definitely share the same sentiments. Good to see that Cadel recognized he needed to redefine his career. Good luck to him.
YEAHHH Tyler finally gets one. Farrar wins Vuelta's Caravaca de la Cruz stage http://www.cyclingnews.com/races/64th-vuelta-a-espana-gt/stages/stage-12/results
To say nothing of DZ taking the overall at the Tour of Missouri. Unfortunately, things didn't work out so well for Garmin today in Spain.
