Here I am... just collecting some stuff to take my pick now... fourth rounder now, I think.... got kinda busy and only had time for posts that took no thought.
Ok... I am switching some things around... I was going to choose a painting, but I'm not going to at this point. This time, I'm going for a public work of art that is instantly recognizable as a Chicago landmark. When people think of Chicago, they often picture the Sears Tower... the Water Tower... the skyline as a whole... and this. The Chicago Picasso.... dedicated in 1967 and standing at the Daley Plaza.
Go for it. I'm working on some stuff and just came to see what got picked next. I'll just pick when I get a chance. BTW... I'm gonna have to look up some info on that Balzac. Found some stuff.... but what's it made of? Your pic looks like stone. Others look like copper. I love how it looks so rough!
Howdy y'all! I'm ready to take my 5th now! For this round, I went with something a bit different. This was actually the artist I was contemplating, but I wasn't sure what to pick. I had so many paintings from which to choose... but I decided to go for another medium. I could have chosen something from Chicago for this artist too! But I didn't! I went with a commissioned piece.... (some commissioned pieces rather).... Reims Cathedral didn't fare very well after WWII... but much was rebuilt afterward. Marc Chagall was commissioned to do some of the windows, and I choose those... the Chagall windows in Reims Cathedral.
Mine's copper, located on Boulevard Raspail near Montparnarse. It looks white because of the lime rust and birdshit. There's several other copper versions.
I have to run to work right now, but I'll post my pick later tonight along with an updated Big Board so we can see where we all are.
What if we all just picked days of the week to make our picks? Would that be faster? Like Gringo and Iceblink on Mondays, myself and Matt in the Hatt on Tuesdays, etc. Just a thought. There's still MANY rounds left.
I am ok with that idea but I also think we should drop the 24 hour time limit in half. I think people forget about it because of the 24 hour limit.
YankHibee is the next one up in the draft. Here is the drafting order. PLEASE make sure you e-mail the next in line when you are done making your pick. 1. GringoTex 2. Iceblink 3. redcard816 4. Matt in the Hat 5. YankHibee 6. folha 7. Sachsen 8. Alberto 9. pvan4 10. dmar Does 12 hours per pick sound reasonabale? Half of you have already said yes. As for the time zone question someone asked, I don't think it should matter, since the posts will be marked with a time. You have 12 hours from that time to pick. (Unless I'm missing something.)
Yeah... why don't you post right now?... I bet it's your turn by now and maybe this way we get this started again. I dunno...
with my next pick, I select something I see everyday. Vulcan(the largest cast iron statue in the world). Recently underwent renovation. http://www.vulcanpark.org/index.html
I already have some baroque painting, but this one has always been amongst my all-time favourites: The Night Watch, Rembrandt Van Rijn.
No, go ahead. You can scroll back and see what we've picked thus far, so you don't duplicate anything. (And anything with blatant nudity should be posted as a link, maybe with a warning ... Mapplethorpe, etc. type stuff.) Hell, go ahead and post (4) picks and I think you'll be caught up. ==== As for my next pick: Artist:Henri Rousseau Title: The Snake Charmer
