I keep having to go back to see the order, so, just so everyone knows: 1. GringoTex 2. Iceblink 3. redcard816 4. Matt in the Hat 5. YankHibee 6. folha 7. Sachsen 8. Alberto 9. pvan4 10. dmar Also, although this site has some way annoying pop-ups, this too, is a good place to find artwork: http://www.artchive.com/ftp_site.htm And yes, dmar, I think everyone's cool with you taking the No. 10 spot.
We are now at the end of the 2nd round. Yes, you can pick right now. GringoTex is otherwise up for the beginning of the 3rd.
Great, I'll PM GringoTex. I hope I didn't pick another of his choices... The third of May 1808, Francisco de Goya.
Well, I fear Cesar may need to make my next pick, yet again ... I'm out of the office until Tuesday afternoon. Sorry y'all. I didn't think it'd take five days to go through one round.
I think I'm up. I just spent an hour looking for a painting that I couldn't find. But that's ok. I have this one. It seems I'm going to be picking a lot of things found in the art institute of chicago, but there is some fabulous art inside... so what can I do? This pic is a little yellow... but it's just an amazing piece of art. It's Gustave Caillebotte's "Paris Street: Rainy Morning" No electronic pic will ever do it justice. It's amazing up close. The stones glisten... i Here's what it looks like in the museum...
1. GringoTex 2. Iceblink 3. redcard816 4. Matt in the Hat 5. YankHibee 6. folha 7. Sachsen 8. Alberto 9. pvan4 10. dmar Matt posted over 48 hours ago, so I am skipping YankHibee and folha and posting my 3rd round pick. We haven't had much sculpture picked yet, so I'm going for big. In fact, it's the largest single-stone statue in the world: The Great Sphinx of Giza
folha can post his 2nd and 3rd round picks at any time. YankHibee can do likewise with his 3rd rounder. Alberto is currently on the clock. Code: Round 1 Iceblink H. I am picking a sand art demonstration/performance from SICAF 2003 done by Hungarian artist Ferenc Cako. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D44OlP3Zpy0&mode=related&search=
A good, one-of-a-kind pick... but....... I've most likely said this before in other threads... but the Sphinx was one of the greatest disappointments of my life. When I saw it in post cards, I always thought it was just massive. When I saw it up close, it just didn't live up to those expectations. I mean, it's big... but it's just not as huge as I thought it would be. I think I remember it being in a pit. They must go down into the pit and take a picture up at the pyramids, making it look as big as the pyramids. I didn't think it was that big... but it was barely larger than a greyhound bus... at least that's how I perceived it.
I voluntarily moved to 2nd. I hate going 1st in drafts, no matter how risky it is that someone will take my pick. Wait. I'm not next right now, am I? I'll check. I go after Gringotex who is officially #1. But I've picked at the #2 spot every round. Ok... looking back, there are still people who need to pick their #3. And then Gringo will start round 4.
