I give you points for finding an original europosing name that I don't think has been used yet. The name sucks still.
Now you're just being silly. What does that even mean? You mean applying American style names to soccer teams in North America or applying American style names to gridiron teams in Europe?
Sticking random animals in plural form in names of football clubs. i.e. Virginia Bulldogs - Terrible name for football clubs.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northern_Virginia#Racial_and_Ethnic_Composure One of the most international and diverse region in the country.
See what I'm talking about? Meaningful Euro-style name is better/cooler than random animals f Ameri-style.
Yes, because one shitty example made in jest should always be used as definitive proof... I counter with Real Salt Lake. What is royal about SLC? Where are the royals in Utah? I also counter with Maryland Terrapins, Baltimore Ravens, Miami Dolphins, Miami Marlins, St Louis Cardinals, Toledo Mudhens, Boston Bruins, Texas Longhorns, etc. So many teams have iconic names that fans have rallied behind for generations and/or that are unique to the city/state/region they represent and are therefore meaningful. Dive into the human mascots and you come up with beauties like the Minnesota Vikings, Dallas Cowboys, Boston Celtics, Tamp Bay Buccaneers, Virginia Cavaliers, New England Patriots, etc. Again, all of these clearly represent their location and are embraced by their fans. Most would agree -in the US and the UK - that they are much better than using something as generic as "football team," "sports club," "basketball squad," or "hockey club." For giggles, look up the ice hockey leagues in Europe. Also look up basketball in the UK. While you're there, Google gridiron leagues in Europe. Take a peak at which naming convention is more prominent.
How about something incorporating this seal: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=File:Seal_of_Loudoun_County,_Virginia.svg&page=1
I can't believe I'm about to say this... That's a great idea, WSW. Just as long as those colors do not appear on the same kit.
Virginia Aeros or Virginia Wings for some airport-related choices. The extension of the Air & Space Museum where they recently placed one of the Space Shuttles is at Dulles too. Lots of other aerospace names you could come up with I'm sure.
Udvar-Hazy originally had Enterprise. They replaced it with Discovery earlier this year, and shipped Enterprise to the USS Intrepid in NYC. Aeros would be a nice subtle nod to the importance of Loudoun County. And the particular shade of green used by the county seal would be unique to the league if used as a main color. Sucks, doesn't it?
Also with Aeros, you'd get the acronym "VA" for Virginia. Kinda redundant but would be an interesting touch.
I don't like the name idea, but to say this is just ignorant. The NoVA region is extremely diverse as the vast majority of people in the metro area live outside of the city. Loudoun is wealthy, diverse, and growing rapidly without any signs of slowing down.
