They play two DM's De Rossi and Pizzaro, and with Pizzaro going back to Inter from the loan period ending, if they dont get Pizzaro back then Grella becomes an option.

The newspapers in England are saying he's joining Everton on Tim Cahill's recommendation. Is he good?

Very highly rated indeed. Being a DM he's often the unsung hero, but his class was shown when he was the only Australian named in the prelimanary "team of the tournament" at the World Cup last year, despite how well Lucas Neill was playing. He's very consistent, and been speculated as a target of Inter, Roma, Palermo and probably others.

It'll be interesting if he does move to the EPL, his game is very suited to Italian football, but i'm sure his more than capable in the EPL

I'd love to see him in the premiership, we don't get much coverage of Serie A here. At least i'd get more of a chance to see him then. :)

Although with DM's really it comes down to the manager.

Look at Mascherano- impressed at the World Cup, extremely highly rated, and then cant get a game at West Ham.

Goes to Liverpool, starts and shuts down Kaka in the Champions League Final.

Grella can do well in the EPL- he just needs a manager who utilises him properly. :)

Plays in DM role - if utilised properly could be far better than Graveson in that position IMO, although at first glance Graveson may be considerred more suited to EPL.

I'd love t o see Vinnie in the EPL!

He's our best player for mine. Works his arse off & is great defensively. Holds the midfield together.

Not keen on him joining the toffees but if it means EPL then so be it.

    Re: Grella to Roma

Yeah its funny how things work out, eg. A player like Pirlo a creative defensive midfielder - if he ever went to spain he would play as a creative Attacking midfielder, and vice versa. Thats probably the best example to get, as the Spanish like the game slowed down in the final third, get a player like Riquelme in space and let him do his creative brilliance. Whereas an italian team would want a player like Pirlo early on to get in space, and use his creative touch to get on a fast break.

Back to the point, if Grella went to england and like you say has a manager who tells him to get in the game more, or to play higher up, to run with the ball, he would wasted, as his game is to provide cover, and to get into positions where he can get into space recieve the ball, and pass/switch the ball to a free player - sitting in behind his teammates so when they can't move forward the ball would be passed back to him.

In england they struggle to link, defence to midfield, thus we see more direct play. For Grella to fit in, the team would have to be more patient, and get into free spaces, not forward, but in areas around him. This would be a massive problem for him.

I agree, I hope than Grella realises that if he does go to play in the EPL he may not have the same impact, but hey you never know he works well with the Australian team which is mostly Prem league players with the similar mindset.

But not the players directly around him - Bresciano, Sterj, Cullina, Emo (dutch schooled), and Chippers - Who all have a euro type mindset. The only players around from England were the two central defenders, however they were the ones doing more adapting, as they were looking for more measured passing, rather than direct play.

It all depends who is around Grella if he moves to England, and how the manager wants him to play.

Grella is not goin to Roma, there is no way he would wait in line behind De Rossi and Pizarro. Why do people constantly believe tribalnonsense? aussie_ascoli you know what im talking about.

You know this was old news anyways + tribal isn't that bad when it comes to Italy - they just copy and past (translate) info from the big italian websites.

    Roma don't own Pizarro.

He was almost certain of going to Torino but when Corini was not re-newing with Palermo, they snapped him up quickly.

lol, quoting my quote :D . News just in, is that Grella is likely to go to Torino now. Torino were desperate for a DM since Janurary, even looking for older DM's to fill the role. Probably a week ago Grella would of been 95% sure of going to Torino. But Torino wanted to snap up Corini straight away, when he was free, so there was that wait to see whats happening. So now it looks like a Central duo of Corini and Grella, with Corini the player to push a little higher up we with possession.

Looks like Palermo are interested aswell. Linking up with Bresc again may be tempting. I'd like to see Vinnie give the Premiership a go!

Why would he need to go to the EPL?

So people can say he doesnt score enough goals or doesnt do any flashy stuff?

He is one of the best DM in Serie A. He should stay there.
