Re: Villyan Bijev at Liverpool FC? True, but he was notoriously poor at sharing focus with his fellow actors.
Re: Villyan Bijev at Liverpool FC? From the University of Washington website: http://www.gohuskies.com/sports/m-soccer/spec-rel/072811aaa.html
Re: Villyan Bijev at Liverpool FC? He goes from being a "spark" off the bench to Liverpool. I think he made the right choice.
Re: Villyan Bijev at Liverpool FC? Man, if I were Jamie Clark, I wouldn't have said anything about Bijev's being "a spark." It sounds a bit pissy, to be honest. More importantly, it sets him up to look like a lousy judge of talent if Bijev happens to play well enough simply to make Liverpool's bench this year: "Yeah, well, our team's pretty much as strong as LFC, so it makes sense I'd been planning to keep him on the bench also."
Re: Villyan Bijev at Liverpool FC? Clark trying to hard in that 2nd paragraph. Essentially saying Univ. of Washington's forwards are as good or better than Genk's (or that he is a superior evaluator of talent to Liverpool's team). LOL.
Re: Villyan Bijev at Liverpool FC? Well Bijev would have been a new player for UW, right? So it makes sense for him to come off the bench at first, and eventually maybe win a starting spot. Meanwhile we have no guarantees he will be on the first team at Genk or Liverpool this year. So I don't think it's as ridiculous as it sounds.
Re: Villyan Bijev at Liverpool FC? I don't think it's ridiculous. It's possible that he was simply trying to find something nice to say and that's what came out. I just suspect it's a bit of posturing that doesn't really do him any good and might even turn out to be embarrassing if Bijev happens to have a breakout year.
Re: Villyan Bijev at Liverpool FC? What do you guys expect Clark to say? Remember, Bijev isn't going to be on his team but the two starting forwards will be. "We wish Bijev well, but it's a shame he won't be part of the program. He's way better than the two chumps we have starting now." It would have been better to simply omit the part about being a spark off the bench, but no coach should needlessly show disrespect his players in public.
Re: Villyan Bijev at Liverpool FC? Something simply as "We would have loved him to be a part of our team next year but he is getting a fantastic opportunity to play in England with a huge club. We wish him the best of luck in his soccer endeavors"
Re: Villyan Bijev at Liverpool FC? Maybe Clark is simply a poor judge of talent who is just too honest for his own good?
Re: Villyan Bijev at Liverpool FC? For those interested, Liverpool has just acquired Marco Bueno (U-17 Mexican) as well. They might end up playing some reserve matches together at some point.
Re: Villyan Bijev at Liverpool FC? The announcer in the videos was going with "Bee-zhev" but who knows, silly Englishmen.
Re: Villyan Bijev at Liverpool FC? They wont announce it until the Genk loan is completed fully. That part may not be done.
Re: Villyan Bijev at Liverpool FC? Today they officially presented new center back Jeroen Simaeys: http://www.krcgenk.be/nl/nieuws/show/wij-werken-keihard-verder-aan-de-versterking-van-deze-ploeg/563
Re: Villyan Bijev at Liverpool FC? Looks like Bijev has already played and scored a goal for Genk a few days ago: http://www.fcvdendereh.be/news/1971/FC_-_KRC_Genk_6_augustus_2011/ Not sure if this was with the reserves or a friendly or what, though. Perhaps a Belgian poster could fill us in.
Re: Villyan Bijev at Liverpool FC? Looks like he started and played 90 minutes, nice, but would definitely appreciate some context
