Nope, that wasn't the patch work lineup.

It all started back in 2nd half vs. Tenerife when switch was made to
    from 4/4/2 to 4/3/3(4321) to 3 strikers.

The 4/3/3 (4321) has taken Villarreal from 10 to 6 in Liga.

The starting formation vs. Sevilla, Valladolid, Sporting for 3 wins was also
    4/3/3(4321)
    Mid ===> Cani-Bruno-Ibagaza/Senna

Garrido went back to 442 vs. Getafe and Villarreal lost 0-3.

4/3/3(4321) was brought back vs. Atlectico and Villarreal won 2-1

Also, Musacchio has done extremely well as CD when needed in absense of Godin or Gonzalo in the last 6 games.

    Re the Subs:
To hold on to 2-1, the midfield was beefed up by first going back to 442 w/ Cazrola* for Llorente and then the defense was beefed up by going to 5/4/1 (Venta for Nilmar)

    * That's was the most minutes Cazorla has played since coming back from Lower back Surgery.

Awesome work by Garrido, but did you catch Sevilla dropping into Europa spots (5th), and how they did it? A 4-3 loss to Getafe in the 93rd minute. Kanoute had a goal and 2 yellows :)

Tough season for you guys but you guys seemed to start to gel later in the year. Can you guys still get into Europe because Sevilla/Atletico are in the Cup?

What about Jozy Altidore? Do you guys expect him to be back at the club next season? He didn't score jack for Hull but was pretty useful at times.

It's pretty messy. Because they were playing in the final of the Copa del Rey against a team that had already secured a European spot (Sevilla), a normal case would have seen Atletico nab the Europa League spot. However, by winning the Europa League, Atletico had already guaranteed themselves a spot in next season's tournament. This created a bit of a mess for Villarreal, because Atletico "won" a place in the Europa League both through the Copa del Rey situation and through their winning of this year's tournament. However, from what I understand, winning the tournament supercedes their would-be qualification via the Copa del Rey. Because of this, Spain loses that "extra spot" that many thought would go to VCF.

Dang. So unfortunate. I really wish Villarreal was in the Europa League.

    Some more pieces of news:

According to AS, Rafa Benitez is interested in bringing Rossi to Liverpool. If this report is to be believed, the fee offered by Liverpool is 14 million euros. I'm not sure about this. Like AS mentions, I've always been under the impression that Rossi was all about getting back to Italy.

More from AS: Villarreal want to re-inforce Cani, Godin, and Bruno as the "backbone of the team. "
