Not surprisingly, I haven't heard anything back from US Soccer about the extra assist. I'm off the grid for the next week. We'll see if there's anything when I get back.
Well I heard nothing back from anyone that I emailed, so I tweeted Luis Bueno today and he provided me with a shot of the last official USMNT media guide listing goals and assists for LD through 2009. I confirmed this by looking at the USSoccer statistics page for 2004 (which agrees with the media guide). Based on that, it looks like the video has an extra assist in 2004 (the media guide lists 5, and my database has 6). All of them have Donovan listed with an assist. Once again, the only explanation that I can think of is that possibly the Poland friendly was not a FIFA sanctioned match, but I checked that previously (here) and it's listed on the FIFA website.
