Just for the sake of completeness:
    1. The Turbine Potsdam U17 girls are participating in the regional U14 boys league. And actually they are the leading team, winning against 9 of 10 boys teams.

    2. Another example is the U17 girls team of Werder Bremen, leading the lokal U14 boys league. Another link:

because, as andy mead points out, the uswnt typically plays against select teams not in a league.

this thread was about the uswnt playing against boys who are further past puberty than the u14s you are referencing, and therefore their physical superiority overcomes the better skill and tactics of the women.

note the quote in the post of the thread starter.

Monibie is not wrong to claim U17 girls can play against U14 boys.

Boys develop later and U14 boys are, in general, even smaller than U14 girls. The boys are faster still and can beat U14 girls but U17 girls are bigger and more skilled. I don't doubt they can hang with U14 boys.

Competition between USWNT against U16-U17 boys are different, the boys are nearly full grown by then and they are much taller and quicker than the oldest of the women.

nobody says this poster was wrong in making this claim.

we're saying it was wrong to make this claim as proof of why the uswnt should also succeed against the boys they play against.

Never said they couldn't - that wasn't his real point.

Sorry, did not want to make fun of the USWNT. I simply wandered about Tina Di Martino stating publicly that already the 13/14 yr olds they had scrimmaged before would outclass them physically.

"We know they are stronger and faster than us, but it's teaching us to play smarter and quicker and teaching us we can't play slow," DiMartino said. "I love playing against boys."

That's all. May be we should simply close this discussion :) ...
