http://wvhooligan.com/2010/01/07/ussf-announces-division-two-setup-for-2010/ No team in Atlanta for either the USL or NASL. Very disappointing, I was looking forward to making the trip over to support Atlanta this year. Hopefully next year a team will be put together for those in BOSS to support. Birmingham, Atlanta, anyone please just give us a team to support.
Ya my thoughts on that too, I was happy to see the Silverbacks coming back but oh well. I don't really understand though about them saying Atlanta wasn't ready, but if they weren't ready why could you already buy tickets on there website?
My thinking is that they wanted to enter a league with a little more stability and with more details figured out. This year will just kinda be thrown together.
Not so much the league, but the team itself. Right now, the only difference between Atlanta and FCNY is the stadium. No players, no coach, nothing. Nurock, who had the USL rights to Atlanta, would have had the same problem, plus having to find a place to play. Atlanta is a no-go for this year all the way around (and there is speculation it might be the case for next year as well). Unless here was some nuclear meltdown, the NASL would probably have been able to do it on their own this season, albeit the usual suspects would have had their problems. Better to wait a year and have your act together, than to throw something together now and crash and burn. That goes for the Silverbacks, or anybody else, for that matter.
The Silverbacks have a coach. He was announced by Jerk in an interview he had with one of the local Hispanic newspapers last month. They interviewed him and the coach. You will find him in the contact info on the Silverbacks website under Director of Professional Development Program. I think Jerk's problem is that he is just unwilling to pull the trigger yet. He may never be. He makes too much money with the park to p!ss away on a pro soccer team.
I see the women's coach but not the men's. Or is Jason Smith going to resume that duty once they have a men's team? Doh! I just saw that in your post. So I guess Jason smith will still be the coach then?
Yes, if it was this year. Now, maybe not. I still see a lot of talk about 2011 for the Silverbacks. I seriously have doubts that it will ever happen.
