Actually, yes. The photograph is copyrighted. And the paperwork was filed within 30 days of publication, so the penalties are very severe. $100k plus damages to start. But any possible penalties isn't why it's wrong.
My understanding is that because Columbus has such a piss poor track record with managing this match over the last 4 cycles, the American Outlaws have decided to pay to fly in capos from Seattle to make sure everything is done right on game day.
Personally I don't care if they are from Seattle, Columbus or anywhere else. I come to the match to cheer on and support the USMNT not worry about what city the supposed "leaders" come from. But I would add for those who are working their tails off to provide me and the other 9k people deserve better.
No, it's better than that. The United States Soccer Federation is paying for these guys to fly into Columbus and teach everybody the wonderful ways of Seattle.
Hey guys, I have 2 extra tickets that I want to go to a Crew/USA fan that hasn't gotten tickets through a lottery. Please message me if interested
Corporate just does not work well with supporter culture (the atmosphere that goes with it in particular) in this sport. The examples and truths are out there.
That attitude (American Exceptionalism - at its root) has been suppressing coordinated fan chanting and tifo in this country for nearly 20 years. Corporate can work well with supporter culture. I went to 5 of South Korea's games in the 2002 World Cup. The Korean supporters - who partnered with Korea Telecom among others - were absolutely astounding. American soccer fans, used to their outsider status, are the first to yell "sell-out" at anyone that's even seen talking to "the man."
Did Mark hijack your account? I'm AO, many others are too. We are not douchbags. Yes there are some in AO. Gonna happen with any large group.
I dream of the day that we can all be as awesome as Seattle. How did the US survive so long without them?
Capos from Seattle. WTF? If any cheerleaders are coming from Seattle, it better be http://www.seahawks.com/cheerleaders/sea-gals-roster.html The first a--hole who tells me what to cheer and when will get a face full of beer.
The questions I have (and overall I don't have an issue with capos).... Is this a Columbus thing? or is it for all games going forward? Kansas City, Portland and DC all have very organized cheering. What are their feelings of having Seattle folks now running the show? In terms of cheers, are they going to be "Seattle-centric" or actual US cheers. I don't seem to remember hearing any of the patriotic songs (God Bless America, etc) in Seattle. Are these now too old-school?
So the city who noisily campaigned that this match should be moved from Columbus to their stadium are now being given the reins of the "atmosphere".... Completely win-win for them. If US lose, they can say "The magic is gone, time to move it to a new venue...". And if the US win, they can say the pro-American vibe of the whole stadium was thanks to Seattle know-how and let us show what we can really do with that attendance x3. I will also be interested in watching this decision develop. Discussion is very myopic only looking at the Columbus-US game but this decision affects everyone from here on out. Hello, NY, Seattle wants to show you how it's done. Chicago, Emerald City just took control. I bet this announcement is going over like a warm sh*t sandwich in Portland right now.
My local AO chapter ( Cleveland ) posted on facebook looking for capo volunteers after national inquired for 14. If Seattle stepped up and said we got em and nobody else did, more power to them. Your chapter got the message, if they did not pass it along, it's on them.
Well, at least the jackwads in Seattle have given us a reason to stop murdering each other on these boards for a bit. Huzzah, Seattle!
