Ah, ok then. I thought the ending "#IMissTheRob" part was implying that this is a BBVA specific complaint.
Brad Davis has an interview on the current episode of the Soccer Today podcast (the one that Steve Davis does).
It is. I don't think the Compass will be putting out cheap cardboard trans cans for us to huddle under.....
Being a non-FIFA match, in January, using reserve players--5K would be acceptable in most countries. I'm hoping that the Dynamo fans come out and see the game.
I think getting 5,000 walk up at least would be likely, unless the weather turns ugly. Why is the only nighttime rain forecast in months supposed to happen at kickoff? Rain doesn't scare me, but it might scare some of an iffy crowd.
5,000 aren't walking up for this game on a beautiful evening - it's a Tuesday night, workweek, schoolnight game at 8:00, if 11K out is the real figure, they'll get 12.5 or 13K. It is somewhat disappointing but it's reality. I'm not going to fault those who aren't going ($65 to sit upstairs near the middle???), just no one should bitterly complain when we don't get more matches. Although I think this game is still only known to fairly hardcore fans.
What I said was: if we don't get future matches because we only draw 12K, no one should bitterly complain about it. Yes, I would agree we are paying 1st team-type prices for a "B" team match against a sort of no-name opponent in the soccer world. And US Soccer probably overpriced some sections or priced out the demand over say 10K folks. And advertising and buzz for the game hovered around 0 degrees Celsius (Ha! Canadian reference) until the last few days. But I'm sure they feel the Houston market should have sold more tickets (although this is about the same crowd as the last Mexico match, though they had higher prices but a better lineup). I might add that the AXS fees really add up on the "cheap" seats that folks are talking up. For example, four (4) $35 endline seats cost $44 each with taxes and fees, the $26 seats actually cost $33, etc. And I'm still looking for an explanation as to why the convenience fee is different for different ticket sections/prices. I would think it wouldn't really cost an extra few dollars to generate a club seat PDF vs. an endline PDF. Maybe they use special "club data servers" to process the higher priced tickets.
Its pretty simple really... The better the seat, the hotter the chick is who is processing it, and we all know hot chicks make more money than ugly chicks. Like, duh, obviously.
Looking at the weather report, there will probably be a half empty stadium. Or half-full, depending on your disposition.
I understand what you're saying. Maybe my point wasn't that well put though: with the prices they're charging for a poorly marketed B-squad versus B-squad (from a country that has only qualified for one WCF ever, no less) friendly in January, they'd be lucky to get 12,000 sold anywhere. So if this is used as evidence Houston shouldn't host more games, the USSF is just being unreasonable.
