    and my 23 would be:

    GK-Howard, Guzan, Rimando
DF-Besler, Gonzalez, Cameron, Goodson, Beasley, Parkhurst, Chandler, Brooks? (Fabian)
MF-Bradley, Jones, Fabian, Mix, Williams, Zusi, Bedoya (Cameron)
FW-Jozy, Donovan, Dempsey, Johannsonn, Agudelo, Shea

Would like to see Lichaj and Feilhaber push for a spot. Lichaj could push Parkhurst, and Feilhaber could replace Brooks who has struggled and may not be needed with Cameron capable of filling in at CB, plus Chandler can hold it down at RB in the off chance that we'd had to move Cam to CB

    ----------------Jozy-----------------
    Fabian---------AJ-----------Donovan
    ---------Bradley---Jones--------------
    Beasley---Besler--Gonzo---Cameron

I like your 23 but I'd make a few changes. (Donovan, Shea and Dempsey are mids; tho the latter will most likely be considered in the FW group). I wouldn't include Shea and agudelo. As well as brooks needing to get PT before the wold cup. If he does he goes get regular minutes then I would bring him as the 8th defender. If he doesn't then we carry 7 and bring an extra mid.

I'd bring Boyd over agudelo. He is the closest to a 9 that we have. Jozy, AJ, Wondo, Agudelo, EJ, Gomez (when healthy) are not true 9's. Boyd gives us a different dimension than the others and I think he wins that last forward spot because of it (as well as his upside for the future). He's improved a lot since he first suited up for the USA. But I can understand an argument being made for any of the strikers I've named after Jozy and AJ for that last spot.

As for Shea he has an argument to be made especially as we will most likely need to play on the counter against the teams in our group. But he needs to sort out his club situation and start getting minutes with stoke or on a new loan. I'd put him in competition with Agudelo and Feilhaber for a spot.

    My 23:

    GK (3)-Howard, Guzan, Rimando
DF (7 or 8)-Besler, Gonzalez, Cameron, Goodson, Beasley, Parkhurst, Chandler
MF (8 or 9)-Bradley, Jones, Fabian, Donovan, Mix, Williams, Zusi, Bedoya
    FW (4-5)-Jozy, Johannsonn, Dempsey, Boyd

With Brooks, Beckerman, Kljestan, Shea, Feilhaber, Agudelo, EJ, Wondo all fighting for the last spot.

    --------------------Jozy--------------------
    Fabian-------------AJ-----------Donovan
    ------------Bradley---Jones--------------
    Chandler---Besler--Gonzo---Cameron

#22 = Another attacker rather than an 8th defender. Wondo (vet) over Boyd (raw) is what I'm currently thinking. Will probably change my mind many times in the coming months. Or, I could even see another DM if Klinsi feels all the games are going to be scratch and grab midfield battles, so Beckerman or Edu are possible.
    #23 = Rimando as the 3d keeper

The most vulnerable spots in my 23 are:
    1) *Green, for obvious cap-tie reasons. Shea is the logical replacement, much as that unsettles me.
    2) Williams, in a real battle with Beckerman and Edu.
    3) Parkhurst, where Chandler could still sneak in late.
    4) EJ, where Boyd or Agudelo could have a case, but EJ has that one valuable skill -- headers.

Alternates (7): S. Johnson (Keeper), Brooks, Chandler, Beckerman, Shea, Boyd, Agudelo.

Very close to the top 30: Edu, Kljestan, Evans, Castillo, Ream, Onyewu,

Fascinating to look back on this list, 3 years later. 23 of our 30 man roster is on it.

The guys not included who made it were: Zusi, Yedlin, Brooks, Corona, Green, Boyd, Johannsson.

    - Zusi at the time was coming off the bench for Kansas City in his 3rd year as a pro. He would soon establish himself as a starter.
    - Yedlin was in high school, having recently signed a letter of intent for Akron.
    - The rest were all young dual nationals, some of them teenagers, many who hadn't played a pro game.

Just goes to show how quickly things can change for such a diverse and wide spread player pool as ours.

This caught my eye, and I guess I'm a douche but Guzan is at Aston Villa, not Hull City.

That's where he played for the USMNT, I believe.

Crazy how many players didn't pan out. Chris Agorasor, Anton Peterlin, Jemal Johnson, Peri marosevic, Steffen Jerome, Ryan Guy, Alex Molano, etc...

And Eddie Gaven and Santino Quaranta leaving the game... Rogers to become a fashion designer for the Galaxy? Or you could say Arena traded the MVP for the MVFD :)
