Picked a bad day for a press release, but looks like the Michigan Bucks are looking to enter USL PRO next year- http://www.buckssoccer.com/home/798788.html Also looking to build a 5,000 seat SSS in downtown Detroit.
I wonder if they will keep the long-lived PDL team. Still exciting for USL Pro. What will Detroit City FC NPSL do?
Oh boy... start the promote PDL to USL Pro train... honestly exciting to see this for Detroit though.... more NPSL fans getting upset like in Tulsa though? will be interesting to watch
so just to update (and maybe clear the cobwebs from my own head) 2015: Queen City SC (Charlotte Eagles) Louisville? (Orlando City SC) New York Red Bulls 2 FC Dallas 2 Seattle Sounders 2 Los Angeles Galaxy 2 Real San Diego Arizona United SC Charleston Battery Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC Dayton Dutch Lions Michigan Bucks Harrisburg City Islanders Oklahoma City Energy FC Orange County Blues FC Pittsburgh Riverhounds Richmond Kickers Rochester Rhinos Sacramento Republic FC Tulsa Roughnecks FC Wilmington Hammerheads FC that's 21 teams I left Off St Louis (unconfirmed by mls or usl pro) did I leave anybody off of the list
I think it's pretty comical...but also unfortunate. It'd be nice if there was much more collaboration among the various owners and leagues AND the Federation that is supposedly in charge of approving everything. I like competition and all, but is it necessary to split up fanbases in growing markets?
Montreal, Chicago, NYC FC and the club then to be formerly known as Chivas USA will also need to affiliate or start II clubs right? Toronto could also take another crack at their own USL Pro club after being denied in Hamilton
Not at all. I am concerned with fanbases in general. It may be amateur, but I do think DCFC has/had/have hopes of professional soccer in the future FOR Detroit. Look what happened in OKC, Tampa Bay, New York City, LA, etc. It just makes no sense for all of it to continue to happen. Wouldn't it have been great if the Bucks and DCFC would've merged and made the club? Bringing both fanbases together? It makes it a lot easier for all involved, in my opinion.
Toronto FC now partners with The Wilmington Hammerheads http://www.torontofc.ca/news/2014/01/toronto-fc-partners-wilmington
Apparently Holt wasn't smoking something legal in Colorado when he said 30-40 clubs soon. Although several on mikehurst's list are maybes at best.Besides making a killing on expansion fees, I hope USL stick to their plan of regional play with that many teams. I think thats when things will get very interesting in lower level soccer.
Sure. Maybe? That's who they tried to pump up to USL PRO this year before it fell apart. It wouldn't be far fetched to think they'll give it another shot with them. At this point though who knows.
That would be my guess as well. Though depending on what RSL chooses to do it could become more than a one year deal if they continue to have problems in Oceanside.
That's because they wanted to move the Lynx to Hamilton the team I guess would not be viable if left in Toronto
Detroit is getting picked up in the print media in Detroit: http://www.crainsdetroit.com/articl...-soccer-team-to-join-usl-pro-division-league# A few factual errors, but some good stuff here.
Detroit would be a great USL city. I do however wish that the Bucks worked out something with DCFC. DCFC already plays right next to downtown at Cass Tech, essentially where Duggar wants to be. 1000+ following, better than PDL Bucks now.
