Nick Murray (USL press guy) tweeted "As the boss, @USLPrez, said, important announcement later.#USLPRO 2014 expansion begins today." Milwaukee maybe?
Just heard a read about the windy city That would be out of left field if true EDIT: chicago debunked. looks like you might get your west coast wish! #wildwildwest
In a related story, Brooklyn Decker just tweeted that she's having a child with a Kansas City baseball player.
Fresno Fuego making the move up? averaged 6,000 a game last season. Would be nice to go back and play in my home town. Indianapolis business men have hired ex Chicago Fire GM for due-diligence process for putting a team in the city, but they've said their target is NASL. IMO, with USL PRO most likely tying with MLS-R League, I think that may be as good a reason as any to jump into USL instead of NASL, at least for the short term stability (not as much cost to join, plus bringing in MLS teams will create a much bigger buzz for home games attendance numbers. So maybe its them?
It's Sacramento. http://www.sacramentopress.com/headline/76572/LIVE_Pro_soccer_team_is_coming_to_Sacramento

Calling the league "the NASAL?" Is Breathe-Right a sponsor? I couldn't really read past that. Isn't it interesting, though, that nearly every single lower-level franchise owner announced recently or rumored talks about the eventual goal of MLS?
Technically the rumored city was Elk Grove, but that's just down the road from Sacramento. There are some quotes from the city's Mayor Elect on the issue in one of the above links.
I don't like the stadium. I think there are track stadiums in Texas with wider fields. And those suck.
The 12 year old version of myself would like to point out that the new team's website is sacprosoccer.com and suggest "The Sac Pros" as the their official nickname moving forward. Oo! Oo! Or, get this, "The Sacramento Saccers".
Standard caveat. You gotta admit, though...in years past, they'd have announced a team on December 3 to begin play the following April. This is an improvement.
I'm sure they'll change their minds to reflect your desires, Person Who Will Never Buy A Ticket From Them.
True. Baby steps. Unfortunately with them adding teams in a more professional manner it now means there's less hope a second or even third western team would come in with Sacramento meaning the Blues and potentially Sac if the Blues fold would have to hang on by themselves for even longer than before.
Now if I had won the Powerball last week, a team in the greater Chicagoland area would have made more sense. But alas, my dreams of becoming the AEG of minor leadgue soccer is still on hold. LOL
Why? I mean, even if they waited until March 2013 to add a second or even third western team, they'd still have a year. You have instantly gone from a positive to a negative. There's not less hope. This came out of nowhere, someone else out this way could come out of nowhere next month and still come in in 2014. And, for the kabillionth time...the Blues are going to do what the Blues are going to do. If they're still losing $800,000 a year, they could put two more teams in the Pacific or Mountain time zones, it won't matter.
So, LA (usual assumptions) and Phoenix in 2013, LA, Sacramento and Phoenix in 2014. Things are still spread really far apart without some arrangement with the MLS reserves.
