Though, Italy were way off full strength...where as I'd say we were slightly stronger with Carrick, Cleverley and Lampard (over Gerrard, Parker) and A Johnson who is much better at running at people. Plus no where near the pressing that was seen in the Euro's which is where you'll see the true level of an England side.

The big question, will Roy always fall back to a defensive first (including 'can't pass' Parker) in any important game against a half decent team?

Carrick and Cleverly made a huge difference. Young was very poor...again.

I didn't see the match though but I thought Cleverly and Lampard and Johnson, and Carik was excellent

 

^^Carrick, Cleverley and Lampard should be England's midfield 3 at least until Wilshere is fit.

As others have said, Young was woeful. Shows DS among others were right to say good league player but question marks over him in europe/internationally.

I also thought Bertrand looked vastly superior to Baines.

 

He (Bertrand) is incredibly without guile. But in the run fast/kick hard battle with Baines, he wins the run fast portion of the event.
