Maybe not completely. From my view, he basically lost out 1 v 1 to De Rossi on a set piece. Its a match up that favors the Italian, but Carrick's appears to just have been dominated by the more aggressive physical player.

 

Carrick lost out the moment the other Italian player blocked him and gave De Rossi a yard on Carrick.
