People are bitching about Landon? Really? He drove the attack tonight. Without him, we don't score any goals. Yes, he should have shot more, but COME ON! He was the liveliest player out there, along with Herc. He got teammates involved, he drove the team forward. Bradley wouldn't do it; Jones couldn't do it. Dempsey, coming soooooo deep, couldn't do it.

I'd be complaining more about Dempsey than LD. For a center forward, Dempsey was nowhere to be found. Comes back way, way too deep and not fast enough when we get going to get back in prime position. And yet none of y'all say word one about him. He was our center forward, yet he's not mentioned in the thread titled "Attack"?

i totally agree with this. against Scotland, without Dempsey, Donovan took on the role Dempsey should have played against A&B. I realize Scotland isn't a top-notch side, but certainly they are much better than A&B and with Landycakes pulling the strings we toyed with them. I'm not suggesting that Dempsey be dropped, but we played better without him. a 4-1-2-1-2 employing Dempsey and Jozy as traditional strikers with Landon sitting behind would be nice. Jones or bradley cover the holding role in front of the back 4 nicely. seems that Landon just works better when he is the focus of the offensive game. Additionally, Castillo added a nice bit of bite to the attack when he played and i think might be more valuable as a wing mf/fwd than a wide back.

We rock! (Truthfully I thought A+B was a well organized and fairly disciplined bunker. And given the weather and pitch condition, the fact that we were able to break them down off set pieces and the kind of quick-flick passing that led to the PK is not the worst thing we've ever done. Giving up a goal is unfortunate, but I can't get too bummed out by that game. Just as we are seeing that Scotland was worse than we could even imagine, I think we will see that A+B was/is actually a bit better than most anticipated.)
