And how many minutes has he accrued during those caps? How many of those minutes have been with the "A" team rather than the B team like tonight? How many of those minutes have been in attack mode or sit back mode? How many shots has he had? Those are important questions..
Canada has been packing it in all night, barely attacking. The US is having a hard time getting any chances. Ugly game..

Yes they are all important questions. History tells the story best and forwards only get so many chances to show their stuff with the national team, however. Sooner or later, regardless of how many minutes you play, whom you are playing with or against, if a forward doesn't score, he won't be picked. That is a true fact of the international game.
He didn't look that great, but now that I think about it, it's because he didn't do much actual defending. He was often involved in the attack, but had several intended crosses blocked and shut down. Canada barely attacked so we barely got to see Morrow defend. He went the full 90, though, so that's a good sign.
While Wondo wasn't the cause of the US's problems today, he wasn't the solution either. Ten games now with no goals, and few times when I would say he really played well. I think he has the ability to perform at that level, but he hasn't shown it thus far, and at some point the opportunities will stop coming. I think his last chance will probably be the Gold Cup this summer.
I was online following another game and kept glancing back and forth at the TV and didn't really watch or see Morrow.
He was playing behind Brad Davis for most of the game. If he had been aggressive, he wouldn't have had any help from Brad... ...not that Canada would have exploited it, but still.
Not to mention that under Bradley he often played in the lone forward position and received questionable service from the midfield. When you play somebody out of their natural position you're going to make them less productive, in last nights game he was being double teamed most of the night and the passes that did reach him were less than optimal. It's amusing to read the USA forums where the same 4-5 "soccer brains" bash him constantly as useless and good for only MLS, I'm certain they could do much better under the given circumstances.
Hard to exploit anything when the team you're playing parks the bus and packs it in after the whistle blows....
lots of those guys posting really have no clue. Im starting to think Klinsmann intentionally gives Wondo garbage situations where he cannot succeed just to get him out of the conversation. This may have been just the game to do it. Id love to see Wondo with the likes of Dempsey, Bradley, Donovan, Jones, the like on the field. Give him a run with the A team and youll see what hes about. Morrow did great for his first cap i thought. Hope he gets plenty more.
IMO, though, 99% of American soccer fans, pundits, and probably even Klinsman can't recognize that. Morrow recognizes that just like he recognizes Omar Gonzalez will give the ball away 9 times out of 10 if he does distribution out of the back. So Morrow focuses on being available for Gonzalez and covering his defense instead of being aggressive. Yallop would give him credit for this, but that doesn't get him anywhere with the Nats. But if Morrow wanted to actually raise his own stock and sink Gonzalez' stock, he roam forward more, and leave Gonzalez to show what weak sauce he actually is.
