It was a team, I don't know about a league. Perhaps the WNT can start an over 40 team for some of the players who are getting closer to that birthday...
2012-- her last year as she missed all of 2013-- she had 29 caps, only 5 starts and 904 minutes. She scored a goal every 10 of those minutes and had an assist every 18. That's not so bad that she should be just thrown away... Remember a huge portion of her caps have been as a substitute mid, not at forward; and she was pretty much forced into the lineup too early simply because no one else was taking charge of that spot-- while she couldn't do much with it in her own right at that age, she was at least adept at cleaning up Abby's trash. If you just look at the "what" of a statistical record without looking into the "why," you will wind up believing a lot of things that are not true. I'm not her fan at all, but one has to allow for the fact that a few people hit their peak a bit later than average. Having made all this investment in her, it would be silly not to give her a chance to be one of those people.
And as always, does anyone know of any live feeds for this game? Preferably ones that you won't have to register for.
Nothing personal against ARod, but I'm not sure what the numbers above represent. ARod did not have 90 goals and 50 assists last year.
No, she did not. A goal every 90 and an assist every 180. 9 and 5. Somehow I got crossed up when I started to write "a goal a game" and then decided not to when I considered that she mostly played fragments of games.
No, she did not. A goal every 90 and and assist every 180. 9 and 5. Somehow I got crossed up when I wrote, then deleted, "a goal a game" because most of her appearances were fragments of games. And not last year-- she didn't play at all last year. 2012.
I don't mind giving her another shot with the team. I think statistics are fine, but don't mean much against weaker opponents. This goes for all the players, not just ARod. The Algarve Cup will be a good test for a lot of young players against strong competition. Let's see who steps up and who doesn't.
Starting XI: 1-Solo; 11-Krieger, 6-Engen, 16-Van Hollebeke, 5-O’Hara; 9-O’Reilly, 25-Brian, 10-Lloyd, 15-Rapinoe; 8-Rodriguez, 20-Wambach I like that O'Hara is back, and that Brian and Lloyd are starting together in the midfield. I do not like O'Reilly starting again, and why the hell is Hope starting?
Buehler, Wambach, Rodriguez are starting, and Tymrak is not included in the sub bench. Is Pia back coaching this team?
Why are they starting Solo again, against a team that we outshot 32-3 last Saturday. Give somebody else some time.
So basically Im watching Brian...love HAO but even I dont need to see her every game. Glad KO is healthy so I guess it will be worth watching her. Honestly I may not make it thru the whole game.
