http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/internationals/8397952.stm Looks like the US will be setting up a friendly with Northern Ireland.
I posted this over in the US Men Fan's forum, but since some of you have seen these pictures and a few others are actually pictured in them, I thought it might be prudent to re-post here: ==== Hey all, I know many of you were at the 2/11/09 USA-Mex WCQ in Columbus. That means you experienced a great game, intense atmosphere, and all the general satisfaction that comes from witnessing a "dos a cero" in person. That also means you experienced the cold, wind, and sideways hail that menaced supporters before the game. If you were with the American Outlaws you marched down Hudson Street and a railroad crossing, before storming down a hill and jumping a moat in front of Columbus Crew Stadium. If that sounds like an epic journey, that's because it was. I was there, too, and captured some moments from the trek with my film camera. I think the resulting images say a lot about the dedication of US Soccer fans, and the wholly incomparable fan culture they have managed to cultivate. Now you can purchase hi-quality numbered prints of a few of these images - perfect for reliving the experience behind the highlights (also a great gift idea for your favorite USA supporter). If you're interested, you can buy them here via etsy.com. To start with I only made 1 print each of 7 frames. Depending on demand, I may make more. But for now, I guess you could call them "limited edition" Thanks a lot, -Alex

I hope they don't think that is enough preparation for playing England! Friendlies against stronger qualified countries would be a better test. Or at least countries that came really close like Egypt or the Republic of Ireland.
I'd like to see them schedule the Netherlands. No better way to sort out last minute defensive issues than to have them completely exposed and exploited. If you can figure out how to slow them down, then you might be able to stop England.
Its a non-FIFA date. There isn't a whole lot of teams that will travel to Carson for a game like that. Most of the Honduras team will be domestic players too.
Are they going to come to Carson. I thought the Northern Irish FA wanted to play in England at a premier league ground.
The link you posted earlier said that Windsor Park wouldn't make the NI FA enough money. Makes sense to have it in England as there will be a huge interest from English fans who want to "scout" the USA team.
I would not have gotten out of bed to see NI play the USA before I moved to this country. I'm guessing if it was played in London there would be enough interested Americans and Irish to make it a success. They should play the game in New England if they want to make money ............... Windsor Park is a proper shit hole.
Windsor Park is probably still in the frame. I would imagine it would be a back up if they cannot get an English ground to play at. Personally I think it should be at Anfield, not in London. Loads of Irish there anyway and a short trip in for those that want to make the journey. Saying that they'll probably play at Villa Park or something.

Some comic relief. Jon Stewart and Hugh Grant talk soccer. http://www.hulu.com/watch/115785/the-daily-show-with-jon-stewart-wed-dec-16-2009?c=990:1113
Jon Stewart talks about soccer excitedly, and Hugh Grant seems to think the 1950 game happened in 1962.

this could be a real disaster of a world cup for us with all these injuries. even though dempsey is now a question mark, i'm still more concerned about our defense.
