what a joke. 2nd goal was offside. no call on the handball in the box on netherlands... van bommel should have been red carded... twice. here's to spain winning it all and the celeste getting 3rd.

Great display by Uruguay! I was hoping you guys would win. Netherlands played way too dirty today. Even to the last whistle. I was praying for another miracle for you guys to score in stoppage time. =(

y el primero fue un patadon de van Bommel a gargano......

es cierto que Holanda hizo un pelito mas, pero me gustaria ver el partido sin ayuda arbitral!

    Really hard luck boys.

You did yourselves proud and CONMEBOL. If Suarez had played that was your game.

And even so that was your game. That linesman was a disgrace. He ruined the balance of the game when it was in your favour plus the referee not seeing Bommel's awful challenge on Gargano.

Tabarez did a great job right footed Caceres on Robben and Gargano not allowing them to settle in midfield.

I am gutted for you. Try and get third. And 2014 repeat the dose or better. :)

You have some great kids coming through ie Abel Hernandez and the sucessful u20's perhaps players like Urretaviscaya can return to form too.

Forlan player of the tournament for me.

    Saludos hermanos.

Tough luck guys, 2nd goal was clearly offsides but you know the deal already.

Uruguay played an amazing tournament, here's hoping you get 3rd place.

I was rooting for Uruguay after my country went out, they played a great tournament and I was sad to see them lose to Holland thanks to some questionable referee decisions.

Forlan has been the player of the tournament for me, I hope you guys can win third place and continue this run into the future.

I never thought I'd root so hard against Holland in the World Cup - I've always liked them. But despite their good soccer, they've also had refereeing for them and their diving has pissed me off. And yes, the 2nd Dutch goal was offsides.

    hack and tugs =van Bommel

I had a lot respect for them in grp stage, but after what they show us vs brazil and uruguay.... I do not know if all should go in the same bag!

Didnt see the game because i was on a plane to Uruguay on Tuesday.
Scheduled it well in advance, had I suspected that Uruguay would be in the semis i wouldn't have picked that day, believe me.
But the airline people kept us informed of the score(thanks COPA), and the uruguayans on the plane even applauded at the end of the game. That looked strange to me.
    Got to Carrasco about 9pm.
I was expecting to find everybody desvastated for the loss, but to my surprise everybody was happy, and grateful for the team's display.
And today is thursday and they still are, and they're looking forward to Saturday's game.
There is a flag on every window, and there is a glow about everything and everybody.
It's amazing what having the world's respect can do for a soccer nation.
I'm not one to celebrate third or fourth places, I know what Uruguay has done and can do if we organize and plan, but in this case now I believe it is good for the kids to actually see this team do this. I've been telling my kids all about Uruguay's soccer history for their whole life, I think now they actually believe me.
And maybe, just maybe it will show the clubs and the AUF that it pays off to plan for the future, and to have long term projects.
So even I am looking forward to Saturday...
and to 2014.... and try to start saving money ... got 4 years... maybe just maybe
