Per SBI Both those friendlies would not only be great tests for us, but fun to watch and something to look forward too. Would phenomenal if Holden is back for Russia.
I doubt Holden would be back with the USMNT by November he needs to first start playing for his club for a while to get comfortable.
Both will be great games imo. And I'm glad that Jurgen has us playing in a friendly in Mexico before we go down there for the game that matters. Get the newbies used to it. Also hope that means Jermaine Jones gets his inevitable [insert color] card out of the way in advance. Because we all know it's coming right? If Rafa Marquez is still playing with the Mexican national team by then I would pay money to see the two of them go at one another.
Completely agreed. Playing squads on the Russia/Mexico level I think is the most helpful. Great tests. Until such time as his play warrants it, I'm not going to count on Holden coming back to the national team. I wish him the best of luck, but with injuries as severe as his, there's no way to know if he'll ever be the same player.
Many fans in the Mexican forum were saying the Mexico match was dead a few weeks ago. Are we sure it is still on?
Wouldn't be much of a fight. It would play out something like Onyewu/Ibrahimovic. Marquez would stare Jones down and Jones would proceed to break two of his ribs.
Actually, as soon as Rafa sees someone on the pitch in a US Jersey that says "JONES 13", he's going to completely and totally lose it. Man may be the first player in FIFA history to get three red cards on the same play, it'll be that bad, trust me.
Agree. I grew up in LA during the 70's. Each time I go to Mexico City I see where our air went. And when I visit LA I see where their people went.
I'm confused. Not saying Rafa isnt crazy or a douche, cuz he is both, but do you think he could manage to hurt Jones? Sorry, not buying it. Jones is like a super fit middle linebacker, and Marquez is a b!tch. If you want proof, see his attempted punched last year in the playoffs.
He did break Shea Salinas' collarbone. Also, as a first-generation Russian immigrant, I would be super excited (though conflicted) for a US-Russia game.
