the Fish Blog is up Challenging Midwest Road Trip.....Sleeping in a Silo and late game Coach Fishbein talks about his team's trip to Akron, Ohio to play the 2010 College Cup Champs in FOX Soccer Channel's Game of the Week. http://www.golobos.com/sports/m-soccer/spec-rel/092011aab.html
My grandson, who nows plays for Akron, was recruited by Fish to come to New Mexico. Got a chance to meet him at the game and he is really a class act. You guys are very fortunate to have him.
I agree completely. I have zero connection to the University myself but have been a fan for many years as a local resident. Jeremy and his people make it easy to continue supporting the program. Which Akron kid is your grandson?
Not to make a big deal out of this, but you've got to be pretty happy with what he's achieved so far.
I'd say. Looks like instant starter on defending champs as a freshman, played every minute so far with a couple of assists. Very nice
Couple of recent College Soccer News pieces include Lobos tidbits: Lighting Round Time describing Top 30 Teams in 3 words or less #18 - New Mexico - "Foundation of Toughness" http://collegesoccernews.com/index_files/Page12149.htm Team Linchpins - Indispensable Players Kyle Venter http://www.collegesoccernews.com/index_files/Page12173.htm

Lobos 7-0-2 after 2-1 come from behind win over 1-7 UNLV on the road. Didn't even bother watching gametracker last night. This was the lone match of the weekend for the boys. They head on the Colorado trip next weekend to Denver and Air Force before opening conference home play the following weekend. Should see some further upward movement in polls based on other results
Two good wins on the road for the Lobos this weekend. On Friday they beat Denver 3-2 and on Sunday they defeated Air Force 2-1 when they scored with 45 seconds remaining in regulation. They remain undefeated on the season.
Love it when Lobos smoke Denver (6-0 last night). Need to take care of AFA tomorrow and then the clash with Bakerfield in CA next weekend
Final road trip of the regular season begins today at Seattle U. at 3:30 pacific before taking on Bakersfield Sunday. I knew the Lobos were going to be good but never expected them to be the last no-loss team in D1 Happy today is an afternoon game and expect to see 18-20 field players get time today presuming the game situation allows it. In a week of big upsets I'm sure Fish will have the fellas focused and not looking forward to Bakersfield.
Lobos take care of business against a game Seattle U on the road. Goals from Venter and Baldinger early and late both from Blake Smith corners were wrapped around a Mike Green OG. 2-1 final and off to Bakersfield for top of MPSF clash - 12-0-2 now. "Watched" it with a whole bunch of Lobo fans via Seattle U live blog. Well done Seattle (Alyssa).
Kind of ugly it seems. Be interesting to hear the coach and player takes: Final Stats from today's game: Seattle U: Shots: 14 Shots on Goal: 6 Fouls: 11 Corners: 4 Goals: 1 Goal scored was an own goal by New Mexico's #15 at 50:29. New Mexico: Shots: 14 Shots on Goal: 6 Fouls: 15 Corners: 4 Goals: 2 First goal scored at 4:44 by #12 Venter header off corner Second goal scored at 74:42 by #22 Baldinger, Assist from #23 Smith. Scored off corner, collected ball from 1 foot out. *15 fouls is about double the Lobos average on the year **At least they got it done in regulation and can re-gen and get ready for Bakersfield
Nice chatting on Seattle U site. Zips behind mattocks hat trick beat buffalo 5-2. All goals scored in second half. Crazy that you guys could finish undefeated and not be top 4 RPI wise.
ya, that was fun and unique, wasn't it. some teams on the schedule are having big time down years. it happens. top ten rpi is fine. not looking past Bakersfield, the final 3 conference games at home and the conference playoffs though. tough row to hoe this is a team in progress and I hope they never get to the point where they think they don't have to work their asses off. today should remind them of that
Gyasi Zardes has his 15th of the year as Bakersfield has leveled the score against UNLV at 1-1 in the 55th minute
It's a final in Bakersfield with the home team taking the 2-1 win over UNLV and going to 9-1-4 (5-1) on the year. 12-0-2 (6-0) Lobos play there at 1PM pacific on Sunday for supremacy in MPSF conference after week 9. Just over halfway through the season now. It's been a cracker so far. Can't wait to see this one courtesy of live streaming and live stats on CSUB website.
