as someone whose obsession for socer is only exceeded by a serious fishing obsesion check out www.weatherunderground.com for the best forecast. they are saying 20-25 mile an hour winds with gusts to 60 at 6pm wednesday, getting worse later.
Great weather for a 0-0 tie. It seems it goes to PK. Since I believe we already exceed our quota of misses for this series...
I wonder when the official discussion will start about if the game is playable. It looks like if the storm moves a bit faster than predicted it will be unplayable.
I hope they make a decision in advance.. it would suck to bus up to a cancellation or even a 1-2 hour delay.
I think they should call the game or move it to DC. How does MLS feel about draining police and those who get called in for emergency rescue, given the already bleak situation in Northern Jersey, during the middle of a nor'easter with 60 MPH winds? How would they answer to the family who really needed help but it couldn't be there. Do they care about the safety of the hundreds of fans making the trip from DC? Or the NYRB fans who will travel to the game? This would be a pretty serious storm regardless of recent events. But now it's far more serious. Brick, NJ, is just 50 miles away, and they've already ordered an emergency evacuation for Wednesday. Those evacuation calls are likely to grow. Police need to be called in to secure these areas and help with the evacuation routes. I predict that the match will not be played tomorrow night, at least not in New Jersey. I'm guessing a 3pm announcement today. This is based solely on speculation.
well, you put it in the right place No way they announce they've moved the venue until we're at least loading the buses now:
well, you put it in the right place No way they announce they've moved the venue until we're at least loading the buses now:[/quote] Worse, they'll wait 'til the buses are already en route, they'll call the game, and rather than reschedule or relocate, they'll award a DC forfeit because it was supposed to be our home leg and we were responsible for the venue, and award RBNY a 3-0 victory.* *if this were to actually occur, have no fear, I'll punch myself in the face, but it will have to wait until after I set MLS HQ and Don Garber ablaze.
The NBA still does it. There are plenty of websites dedicated to officials. For years, people have picked playoff series based solely on the officials. It still amazes me the NBA was somehow able to get away with saying only one official was betting on games and that people have simply forgotten that.
what are folks predictions as to what happens? I think they will announce today the game is delayed until Friday or Saturday. Probably Saturday.
That would involve pushing the next round game back. Rather, I bet it'd be postponed a day, where it'd have to be played in an empty stadium, I bet.
probably bu they have that two week cushion between the conference finals and the cup? they gotta say something soon
the weather predictions are calming down. I expect the game will go on as scheduled. Whether all the buses make it up AND back in the sleet/snow/rain/wind, that's the fun part.
yes they are calming down--this is from the NWS discussions for the NY/NJ area Short term /6 PM this evening through Thursday/... a coastal storm is still expected to affect the forecast area during this period. Impacts however might not be as significant as previously forecast...but still significant nevertheless. After collaboration...it was decided to keep all watches as they are...and allow the next shift to assess the newer model runs to see if a consistent trend becomes established.
Please, please, please do not start Robbie Russell in this game. I can't believe I'm actually saying this but I'd rather have Korb on the right with Lewis Neal at left back. Anything but Russell. Jakovic at RB with Dudar in the middle would be better. Dropping Kitchen back there and putting on another midfielder would be better, even with Kitchen growing into that holding spot so well. Please just anything but Robbie Russell starting.
