Stupid being the reason I shut up. However, are there any players who would actually be playing on the international date on either team? If not, I still say it's reasonable to consider-- given the calamity of the situation.
Yes. I went back and looked at our match thread, it was Marrufo. I really only think Geiger's worst game for us was the Philly one this season. Technically the PK incident was a correct call, but two weeks later against MTL they had a PK and encroached and it wasn't called back. So it's not a call you'd expect ever to be made, unless it was egregious. Thx, Jay!
Albania don't play, but actually Montenegro have a qualifier (only 4 Euro teams/2 matches for qualifiers). But it's v. San Marino, and I assume Bosko would decline, as he did last time.
Can you call a crushing victory for United. (Actually, only crushing victories for United between now and the end of the year?)
Quick! Save yourself. Predict a DC United victory in the MLS Cup this year. PS Is MLS going to get pretentious and start numbering their MLS Cups with Roman numerals like the NFL does?
So, they screw us with the venue change AND give us refs who have demonstrably screwed us in the past? When do I get my aluminum foil hat?
I have no doubt that Ben will get fined after the game. And so will the person who allowed this travesty of justice to unfold, i.e. KP. Heck, they may even take all nine buses (and the SUV) straight to Rahway state prison after the game.
re Najar's replacement looks like Woolard might be in the mix http://www.dcunited.com/news/2012/11/monday-training-notes "After starting 20 of the first 21 games of the season, defender Daniel Woolard suffered a concussion in August 4th's 1-0 win over the Columbus Crew and has not been in an 18-man roster since. A presence on the practice pitch for a few weeks running, he shared today that he feels 90-minute ready and is hopeful about playing against New York on Wednesday."
Wait, seriously? And they're giving him a playoff second leg that is also another East Coast rivalry? No, none of that sounds stupid to me.
This is how the NBA used to influence playoff series. They'd assign certain refs that they knew would be influenced by the crowd (either pro or con) to key playoff games.
