    Round 12 Results

    Baniyas 2-2 Shabab Dubai
    Sharjah SC 3-1 Ittihad Kalba
Wahda Abu Dhabi 4-0 Wasl Dubai
Al Ahli Dubai 0-0 Al Dhafra
Al Nasr Dubai 1-2 Jazira Abu Dhabi
    Dubai Club 1-0 Al Ain

Well, well, well, Al Ain in very big trouble. Will be interesting to see what they are made of. Now 2nd bottom.

Al Jazira look like wrapping up their first league title in double quick time, 7 points clear of Baniyas, whom themselves are 7 points clear of 3rd placed Al Wahda. Not much between them and 8th placed Al Nasr for that crucial ACL spot.

Over in Division 2 Group A, Emirates Club will have the title wrapped up and promotion if they win their next game. Second place looks a lot closer with Ajman playing Al Oruba in the enxt game that could go a long way to deciding the 2nd promoted team.

In Group B (3rd level), there's still a long way to go, but Ras Al Khaimah currentyl lead the way and hope to get promoted to Group A.

Right, so reading various articles over the last few days, I have gathered various knowledge.

    * The UAE FA weren't happy that the Professional League Commitee, who took over the runnng of the league in 2008 renamed it to the UFL Pro League, whereas the UAE FA wanted to continue using the League of Pro Football Clubs. Personally, I think it was correct of the PLC to try and market the league better.

    http://www.thenational.ae/sport/football/ufls-refusal-to-budge-proved-costly

    * There is now a 5 man commitee running the league but they need time to look into what may have been agreed by the previous board, potientally an agreed 14 team league

    http://www.thenational.ae/sport/uae-sport/uae-fa-promises-clubs-things-will-be-back-to-normal

Oh, and if thats no enough, sacked Al Ahli coach Dvaid O'Leary has been on the English radio saying that he never expected to last one season in the UAE. He states he was happy he lasted a season, which is a bit of a fib as he was sacked before the season end. But why did he sign a 3 year deal anyway? Did he see the money bags?

There's a lot been happening off the field recently, among them a number of coaching changes, let's have a look who's coming and going.

-Diego Maradona joins the Al Wasl setup. He takes over from Sergio Farais

    - Fellow Argentine Alejandro Sabella joins Al Jazira, taking over from Abel Braga

    - Romanian Cosmin Olariou who was previously coaching in Qatar with Al Sadd joins Al Ain. Alexandre Gallo makes way.

    - Lotfi El Benzarti who was sacked by Bani Yas towards the end of last season has been replaced by 2007 Asian Cup winnign coach Jorvan Vieira

    - Sharjah sacked Manual Cajuda at the end of last season and he's replaced by fellow Portugese Carlos Azenha

    - Al Ahli are still searching for a full time coach

    - Coaches still currently hanging onto their jobsare Josef Hickersberger (Al Wahda), Walter Zenga (Al Nasr), Paulo Bonamigo (Al Shabab), Junior Dos Santos (Dubai). All coaches, except Bonamigo, didn't start as the coach last season

    - Emirates club will apparently be in the control of Tunisian Ghazi Ghrairi

    - Ajman will be in the safe hands of Abdulwahab Abdulkadir

El Benzarti is now back at Al Wehda (KSA)

But seriously, they dissolved the league due to a naming dispute?

Yes, apparently that was the main reaosn behidn taking control of the league again. It's probably more to do with the fact that the leagues growing and they want more say.

For the upcoming World Cup Qualification 2014 matches we are looking for a correspondent from the United Arab Emirates to cover the match against India (23 July) for us (and the FIFA) from the stadium in Al Ain City.

The only thing the reporter has to do is providing us:
    > The squad information of both national teams involved in the concerning match.
    > The line-ups of both teams: names, shirt numbers, position, officials
    > Start and end of first and second half
    > Goals with scorer/shirt number and minute
    > Yellow and red cards with booked player/shirt number and minute
    > Subsititutions with players names/shirt numbers and minute

Needless to say Infostrada Sports is willing to pay (80 USD) for providing this information. We will arrange press credentials for the match if needed.

Please let me know if you are able to cooperate with us for this project, or know someone who could be. If yes, then please send your contact details to fifa@infostradasports.com.

    Thanks!

A lot is happening in preperation for the 2012-13 season.

    Let's take a look at what's happening:
    • League Expansion - 14 teams will take part in the championship. Sharjah, Emirates, Al Dhafra and Al Shaab will contest a quartet league before the start of the new season to see who get's the final to slots.
    • Branko Ivankovic looks set to take over the coaching reigns of Al Wahda. He'll take over from Josef Hickersberger.
    • Baniyas have not renewed Gabriel Calderon's contract.
    • Al Jazira have not renewd Caio Junior's contract and Al Shabab coach Paulo Bonamigo looks set to join them. Bonamigo only signed a contract extension with Shabab last week
    • Brazilian Pericles Chamusca, who was coaching in the UAE has stated that he has received offers to coach in the UAE
    • Super cup expected to be played on the 15th September, the season's curtain raiser.

    How bizarre.

I don't want to start a hot potatoe, but if the UAE are doing this, then I think FIFA should maybe step in and give some kind of warning. It seem's a political move which FIFA don't accept.

It is hard to police what leagues do what, they limit number of forigeners etc, but to say no one from that country is going a bit far.

Im pretty it was because of the political dispute regarding the Iranian islands Abu Musa, Greater and Lesser Tunb.
