    Round 8 Results

06.12.2008 Al Ain 0-2 Jazira Abu Dhabi
06.12.2008 Al Shaab Sharjah 0-2 Khaleej Khor Fakkan
05.12.2008 Al Shabab Dubai 2-1 Al Wehda Abu Dhabi
05.12.2008 Al Dhafra 6-2 Al Wasl Dubai
05.12.2008 Al Nasr Dubai 1-1 Ajman Club
    05.12.2008 Sharjah 0-1 Ahli Dubai

Jazira won the big match of the weekend, defeating title rivals Al Ain 2-0, but are still 2 points behind leaders Al Ahli who beat Sharjah 1-0. The top 3 are at least 6 points clear of 4th place. So it looks like Al Ahli, Jazira or Al Ain for enxt years Club World Cup.

Khaleej won the bottom of the table clash and move off the bottom in the process.

Realistically, anyone form 4th place down could be relegated in this 22 game season.

    Time for an update!!

    • Al Ain have added the Presidents Cup and the Emirates Cup to their trophy cabinet this year.
    • 5 sides, mathmatically, still remain within a chance of winning the league title with 6 games reamining, Al Ahli, Al Jazira, Al Ain, Al Wahda and Al Shabbab
    • These sides also remain in contention to claim the Host berth for the 2009 Club World Cup.
    • All four representitives in this years AFC Champions League are struggling, all but one propping up their respective league tables.

    Beleaguered Sharjah sack coach

SHARJAH: Sharjah Sports Club sacked their Portuguese coach Toni Oliveira on Tuesday after a string of poor results in both the AFC Champions League and the UAE League.

An announcement on the club’s official website said “poor results" had led to the parting of ways.

The club also said Iraqi trainer Abdul Qadir Abdul Wahab, sacked one month ago from fellow UAE League outfit Ajman, would be in charge until the end of this season.

Oliveira joined Sharjah in February on a four-month contract after the club had showed the door to Tunisian Yousef Al Zwawi.

The UAE League is coming down to a nail biting finish in it's first season in the professional era.

League leaders Al Ahli drew with 3rd place Al Ain today 2-2 allowing Al Jazira to close the gap to one point with two games remaining.

At this point, Al Ahli look like taking the championship and the CWC Slot

15.05 Al Ahli - Al Dhafra
15.05 Al Jazira - Al Shabab

23.05 Al Shabab - Al Ahli
    23.05 Ajman - Al Jazira

At the bottom, Khaleej have taken the drop and look to be joined by Al Shaab.

In other news, Sharjah dropped out of the Champions League hurting the Emirati's chances of having more allocations in the future.
