Maybe because the can sell Valdes for $$$$, and Gomez would have to be re-signed and they won't do it. I wrote it in red, but I actually believe it.
That Panama-Spain match looked like a fixed match. There was absolutely no defense whatsoever from Panama. Everyone was just real lackadaisical, just going through the motions. Plus a scoreline of 4 goal difference is always suspect because a 4 goal differential will pay out a much larger sum. That whole match reeked of a fix.
Best thing about the Colombia match was that Valdes couldnt make it off the bench. Yes he stinks nobody make offers for him plz.
Jeff Parke called into camp: http://www.ussoccer.com/News/Mens-N...-Roster-for-US-MNT-January-Training-Camp.aspx
I always figured that Adu would be the first Union player to get a cap with the USMNT. Hopefully at this point it will be Jeff Parke! The MLS website had a poll that had M. Garfan listed as a potential candidate. Amobi Okugo will definitely be in the mix down the road. I promised myself that the next Nats jersey that I would buy was going to be a Union player. I'd really like to get a new one soon!
I would disagree; Okugo probably will be the first player for the Union capped, but it will not be in a year or two. I think we are looking more at the next cycle of qualifying that we see him with the national team. My fear though is when that time comes, he won't be with the Union any more!
For a friendly, sure, he may see the bench. I don't think he comes close to being called up for a qualifier let alone making the bench or seeing the field. BTW, I consider a cap as playing in a official competition for the senior national team.
Which is different from how it actually works. If he gets a cap its still a cap even if it's not what you consider.
eh, its a gray area. playing in a friendly v canada wouldnt "cap tie" someone if they had other options
Hence why I said "I" and not "FIFA" or any other person. It definitely is a grey area, but if I was going to purchase a national team jersey with a certain players name on the back, I would like to see that player actually play in a meaningful game for the national team and not just a one-time friendly. But that's just me! (See up-thread for context)
The sooner the better, imo. I know Hack said there's plenty of time during the season to get integrated and familiar with the team, but if it's a backline of Farfan-Soumare-Parke-Williams from the get go, the sooner they all begin doing trust falls with each other the more formidable they'll become.
