Because there's better players than Cruz for 135k a year....a solid wage structure makes for happy players and a sign of good management!
The wage structure itself seems logical. It'd be an interesting exercise to swap players salaries around to reflect their actual value on the field. I don't think there would be a lot of drastic changes but Gaddis would get a raise for sure.
Agreed. I was really happy to see in the lineup we were back at full strength on D. And then not so much.
Hopefully with the change of scenery Wenger has enough goals in him to keep up with the inevitable defensive lapses. Full strength, half strength, converted forwards - it doesn't matter. This defense is a major concern.
Berry was so awful yesterday that he may have played himself out of the lineup. Wheeler is not an improvement. Haven't seen the others to know if they offer an upgrade or not.
Ray is criminally underpaid. We should pass around a jar during matches and people can donate when he makes a play. We could call in "Ray's Tip Jar" and present it to him at the end of the game.
Isn't that what a good management group is suppose to do?? For me, Le Toux and Cruz aren't worth their salary.....there's money there to upgrade the back 4. Imo
Don't understand the love for Gaddis. He's just not that good. Can't pass. Can't win a header. Can't stay in position. Is surprisingly unfit. But he tackles really well!
I like the hustle and speed Gaddis brings in defending, but he cannot serve in a ball and is frustratingly sloppy in distribution. For a team that is set up tactically to play it out wide and have guys on the wing to provide service, both Gaddis and Le Toux make attacks down the right side just about hopeless.
I've never been a fan of Gaddis as well, being a good sprinter doesn't make you a soccer player. Full back is the position where you put some of these players you don't know how to use because of their lack of skills. In France this kind of player doesn't make it in pro. Maybe they come back later in their career if they have a good work ethic and after gaining some experience in the lower leagues. I just wish Williams could get in good shape.
It was clearly evident today that Gaddis has NO confidence with his left foot. There were two or three chances where he could have crossed it but instead decided to try and cut it back.
A little odd when he was playing on the left side today. It's clear that the Union need higher quality than what they have in the back for this level. Given the current salary structure of the team and the cap, I don't see a whole lot of improvement in the near term.
Funny , as I watched the game I thought, the only thing worse than his first touch is his second. It's so unpredictable he can't be defended. They can only hope to contain the Bowtie Berzerker.
Ideally, Gaddis should be the sub for the right and left full back positions. This roster just lacks talent, we got depth, but some subs are on the starting 11 because we miss: a veteran at center back, a left back that can defend (like Gaddis) AND eventually cross the ball with his left foot (like Fabinho), and a right winger that can out run his defender (here again, the pace of Cruz with the brain and skills of Le Toux). When I look at the roster, we have way too much depth, rotation players (Lahoud, Bone, Cruz, Hoppenot, Wheeler, White...), and not enough starters caliber type of players. It's just sad at this point...
