I plan on updating this every week. If you don't want results from clubs like Arsenal, Barcelona, and Bayern Munich, don't read this topic. The numbers in parenthesis are the club's rank and then points. January 11, 2014: Atletico Madrid (2, 49)-Barcelona (1, 49) Estoril (4, 24)-Sporting Lisbon (1, 33) January 12, 2014: Benfica (3, 33)-Porto (2, 33) Portugal has a three-way tie with 33 points.
Both big games yesterday were scoreless draws. That means that the Benfica-Porto winner if there is one will be first in Portugal and the three-way tie will continue if there is a draw. In England Chelsea hosts disappointing Manchester United on January 19. After FA Cup games the weekend after that, Tuesday January 28 has Liverpool-Everton and Wednesday January 29 has Tottenham-Manchester City. The Bundesliga returns from break on Friday January 24 with third place Borussia Monchengladbach hosting undefeated leaders Bayern Munich.
Benfica won 2-0 to go to first at the halfway point. If Arsenal beats 11th place Aston Villa (who won at Arsenal to start the season), England will have a new leader for the third consecutive day. Manchester City leads now.
Today's final score was Borussia Monchengladbach 0-2 Bayern Munich. That gives Bayern Munich a 10 point lead.
On Sunday fourth place Athletic Bilbao hosts third place Real Madrid. On Sunday first place Juventus hosts fifth place Internazionale, who is closer to last than to first in points. On Monday first place Manchester City hosts third place Chelsea, although Manchester City will be second when that game starts if Arsenal beats Crystal Palace.
Athletic Bilbao 1-1 Real Madrid allowed Atletico Madrid to take a 3 point lead. Manchester City ended their streak of 61 consecutive home games with a goal in yesterday's Manchester City 0-1 Chelsea. That leaves Arsenal in first. Juventus 3-1 Internazionale gave Juventus a 9 point lead but AS Roma has a game in hand. On Saturday third place Real Madrid hosts fifth place Villarreal. On Saturday fourth place Liverpool hosts first place Arsenal. On Sunday sixth place Tottenham hosts fifth place Everton.
Tomorrow in addition to what I posted in Post 6 of this topic, second place Monaco host first place Paris Saint-Germain. In a league that is good but not elite, Israeli defending champions and current leaders by 3 points Maccabi Tel Aviv host second place Hapoel Be'er Sheva who is trying to win their first title since 1975-1976. Yesterday's final score was Borussia Monchengladbach 0-1 Bayer Leverkusen.
