Just wondering if the Champions league coverage will be the same as last year, FoxSports 1 and 2 I assume, and than the rest of the games on Directv ?

Directv deal is still on ? !

ALso, for Europa League, will the playoffs be shown ? Not sure if last year they started from the playoff or the group stage.

    Thanks to all.

Did anyone see the ad on FSC for August 20 Champions League games? They're spread across a lot of channels (all times Eastern):

11:00AM Fox Soccer Plus: Shakhter Karagandy-Celtic Fcz
    2:30PM FoxSports1: PSV-AC Milan
    2:30PM FoxSports2: Lyon-Real Sociedad
    2:30PM "Fox Sports Networks": Plzen-Maribor
    2:30PM "DirectTV/Fox Soccer Plus": "Pacos de Ferreira-Zenit"

Not sure what "Fox Sports Networks" are--are these regional sports networks?

    * - Last season, DirecTV channels DID show matches and I expect them to do so again next week.

** - There is no indication of any Europa league matches on any of the Fox networks on Thursday. However, a look at my calendar from last season shows that beINSport as well as ESPN showed matches in the playoff round. This tells me that unlike the CL, the EL TV contract does NOT start with the playoff round.

yep, you are correct now that I try to remember that's what happened in Europa League, so you probably right, will start in September.
It seems that this year champions League games will be available live to more people than before through the fox channels.
    Thanks to all .

Note that FOX deportes is also showing several games. So for those who don't get FS+, you can still watch Karagandy v Celtic live.

    LIVE games on FOXD:

    Tues:
    Karagandy v Celtic
    Sociedad v Lyon

    Wed:
    Fenerbahçe v Arsenal

Plus a bunch of tape-delayed matches as well (which actually sucks since the taped matches conflict with Copa Sudamericana  )

I see these replays on my Comcast guide on what must be Fox Sports 1 (the channel is still labeled Speed) on Thursday; times are Eastern:

    Thursday August 22
    12:00pm Schalke 04 (GER) v PAOK (GRE)
2:00pm Olympique Lyon (FRA) v Real Sociedad (ESP)
9:00pm Fenerbahçe (TUR) v Arsenal (ENG)

A few interesting things here. It looks like FSC will be hanging on for a bit? How long before FSC is shutdown and completely replaced with FS1 and FS2? Or did I miss something in the FS1 thread and FSC will continue to run?

Also, every FS+ game appears on FSC or FS2 on delay and in HD, which affirms that there is no real reason to waste money on FS+. I hope that trend continues. I know that this will be different for others who really want to watch their favorite team(s) live. That's never been a concern of mine so as long as I can avoid scores and get HD then I am happy.

Actually, I believe the date is September 2nd. That is when FSC becomes FXX.

It looks like the only DTV game will be Steaua-Legia. This game repeats, as SA notes above, on FS2. One advantage of DTV games is a clean screen (no graphics at all). One major disadvantage is that they almost always mess up something on the first broadcast (playoffs and MD) so you might set your DVR for rebroadcast either way. Usually the problems are with sound (esp. stadium sound only for the first 10 minutes).

Also, if you are recording any of the games on the Fox Regional Networks, I will remind you that many of these networks are quick to interrupt broadcasts to run press conferences by local MLB, NBA, NHL, etc. teams. One year Comcast Chicago interrupted to run a DePaul press conference to announce the hiring of a new basketball coach. Comcast Chicago doesn't air DePaul basketball games, that coach has done nothing but lose since he arrived at DePaul, and never got out of the first round of the NCAA tournament with previous teams. Because of this, I almost always record MSG+ HD. I figure that anything that deserves a press conference will air on MSG HD, so I am safe with MSG+. If you have DTV sports pack, you have options to multiple RSNs.

Any news on the Swansea City Europa League match on Thursday? It is on ITV in the UK and I'm hoping it will be picked up by somebody here.

The only matches the DirecTV overflow channels are picking up are the 2 matches on Wednesday that are not live on either FS-1, FS-2, FSC+ or Fox Regionals. So no matches on DTV's 480 channels on Tuesday, but on Wednesday:

2:45pm Ludogorets Razgrad (BUL) v FC Basel (SUI) DirecTV/481
2:45pm Steaua Bucureşti (ROU) v Legia Warszawa (POL) DirecTV/482

Just when I thought I was going to be able to retire that long cardboard box top I use to block the ticker, FS2 requires blocking another ticker. I assume the same idiocy is happening on FS1 right now as well.

Toumba (The Tomb) would be rocking for this game, but unfortunately PAOK is serving the second of a UEFA 3-game fan ban as a result of crowd trouble in last season's Europa League game against Austria Vienna.

Oh crap- thanks for the info- wow is that disappointing - so even if they make it through to group stage- it will still be no crowd, wow what a loss for fox- Toumba is probably the reason i love soccer so much today

Yes, it's a big loss, and I hope it won't cost the team a historic qualification to the group stage of Champions League. BTW, I made a mistake in my first post. The crowd trouble that resulted in the fan ban were in a game against Rapid Vienna and not Austria.
