Atletico look tough going by tonights game. They're are inexperienced...but they have a chance looking at the other teams current form.
There will be no "long time without the CL" because I doubt moyes will survive 2 consecutive seasons out of the CL.
This is the best chance for him to be sacked this season, if it's gonna happen. Or we go into next season. Urgh.. This season is basically over. Not sure he'll even throw any kids in.
I thought Jones was outstanding today. Rooney was hurt so it's not fare to call him shit, although if he said he was okay to go then he needs to take responsibility for letting his teammates down. Kagawa looked pretty decent too, was nice and tidy, but with Rooney hurt and the lack of possession we had he had nobody near him to link up with. Carrick was uncharacteristically poor tonight I thought. He had a lot of poor giveaways. Evra, meet my friend, Mr. Door. Kindly walk through it. I couldn't even tweet my elation at your goal fast enough before you messed up and lost your marker allowing them to equalize. You should have been sent off and you defended like a 12 year old on their third. ********in' sticking your leg out and shit actin' like you're a god damn soccer player, ********ing fry in hell you cocky bastard.
Kids won't be thrown in until 4th place is a 100% impossibility. Right now there's a 5% chance we pip it.
Carrick's performance tonight highlights what happens when he has no outlet for a pass and the opposition have the numbers/stamina to swarm midfield.
I can't be too upset about us losing because I came in thinking we had no chance, but this does hurt a bit more than I expected. Bayern really were there for the taking. I think Moyes did all right with his initial plan and setup but we just couldn't adjust as the game went along. It's a bit of a harsh comparison but I can't help but think of how utterly lost we looked once we got the lead and contrast it with Mou running over to give his players tactical instructions the moment they scored in yesterday's match. To be fair to Moyes the other thing that came to mind immediately was Fergie's slow reaction to the red card in the Madrid tie last year. Two years in a row we haven't been prepared to cope with a changed situation in a CL match and paid a big price for it. If we could have gotten the game settled back down again after the goal I really think we might have had a chance to pull the upset.
