I'm all in favor of optimism if there's a real-world basis for it. Unfortunately, I haven't seen enough improvement in the things I consider critical path (essentially, coaching + talent pool + competitive opportunities). Btw, Roldan is June 3, 1995. http://www.captainu.com/Soccer/2013/CristianRoldan
You could say there is a sign of improvement from the number of storied clubs abroad signing a big number of young players more than ever before. It's a phenomenon still early in its days but they obviously see something there. Sure a genuine star hasn't popped out yet but it could be soon. One of the main reasons our youth didn't progress was because of their lack of technique instrumental to become a potentially great player. Now we don't have that problem anymore with these new generations. There is a momentum there. I'll give it another cycle till 2018 in Russia before I start losing hope. But I don't plan on that happening.
I think this is one of the best things about being a soccer fan of the U.S., it's being able to watch a country with such vast potential try and enter the world as a top power. It's been 20 years since the 1994 WC and the progress of MLS and youth soccer has been incredible.
Red Bulls thinking of requesting that Miazga stay with the team because he might be needed on the bench: http://www.bigapplesoccer.com/teams/redbulls2.php?article_id=36650
Well what do we have here... Paul Arriola @PaulArriola 1h Excited to be able to finally be back with the US U20 National Team, will join the team on Sunday in Dallas for Dallas Cup!
This says a lot about how Tijuana's manager rates him doesn't it? Arriola wouldn't be released for this if he was deemed important. Overreaction possibly, but finding a new club might not be a bad idea.
Huge overreaction. If all our teenage players who within a year of signing a pro contract are already looking for a new permanent club (not a loan) to move to because they're not receiving consistent 1st team minutes, we will mentally have the weakest teams/players in the future. Part of becoming a pro is fighting for your position and not looking to give up so quickly, and as Americans, we tend not to give up so quickly. If he's in the same position a year from now, sure explore his options.
Redding has some kind of injury, which is why he's not with the U18s right now. He was originally called in and then replaced................................

Clubs and players to watch at the 2014 Dallas Cup: http://soccerblog.dallasnews.com/2014/04/2014-dallas-cup-players-teams.html/ As an FCD I was intruiged by this note: But the one division that is the dark horse for highest entrainment value may just be the U13 group. The group as a whole has some high quality teams, but FC Dallas’ side has quietly been the talk of the local club scene. Featuring Jesus Ferreira, son of former FC Dallas great David Ferreira, the team shows off FC Dallas’ depth and commitment to youth as one of the few MLS teams with an academy team at this age. Usually at this age group each team is limited to one or two young players with a highly advanced set of skills and vision, but FCD’s U13′s has multiple players who all are creative and special for their age. If you’re looking for something other than Super Group play to watch, this would be it.
Here's one of the real games of interest that Dallas locals can watch live: TWC SportsChannel @twcsportsncsc 3h Tune in for the @dallascup LIVE starting on Sunday at 1:30 pm to watch Fulham FC battle FC Dallas Academy! #dc35

In the 13s also check out Chivas USA. Not the biggest or most athletic team, they play very attractive soccer. Coached by Brian Kleiban.
Galaxy's roster is interesting. Has McBean, Jaime Villareal, Oscar Sorto, Jamieson, Malcolm Jones (who was just with the U18s) and a couple of other familiar names. Torn btwn watching them play Anderlecht at 11:30 or watching Fulham v FC Dallas at 12:30.
