Taken when he was 15 and he just turned 16. I don't know if that's considered tall or above average for that age group.

Both. We finish second in group, and will play the second place team from Group C, which looks like it will be Japan, on Saturday.

 

So are we out of contention for first and in a consolation bracket, or are we still able to win?

That's correct; both the US & Mexico are eliminated from the semifinals. The tournament has two more rounds to classify the teams 1-12. US & Mexico finished second and will compete in a consolation bracket to determine places 5-8, along with Japan and China. France/Russia and Portugal/England will compete for the title.

I was curious about F.S. Afrique because yesterday it was listed as Cameroon. It says the kids come from several countries to form one team.

Have faith my friend. 1-0 is not a bad result depending on how we played. We gave up 1 goal in two games, that's progress.

 

It's a parody of the standard BS overreaction to these things.

 

tbh it doesn't bother me that much if we lose 1-0 to portugal, at the very least they are a pretty strong soccer country. I'd be very bummed if we had lost 1-0 to UAE, but since we beat them 4-0, i don't have to worry about that.

I hope we at least get some highlights of the USA team from this tournament, i wouldn't mind giving myself some blind optimism about this squad

 

I don't have a lot of detail, but it sounds like we were very much in this match, probably deserving of a better result. The pitch was poor -- and (subjectively) so was the referee -- but we definitely were not on our back foot defending the entire match.

We made the mistake and allowed a goal and they didn't. I'm disappointed that we didn't take advantage of the opportunities that we had, but encouraged that we were very competitive against a strong soccer nation.

 

Glad to hear that they'll play some additional games.

Next up is Japan, which is a good measuring stick for our group. After that, hopefully Mexico.

 

U-17s are a lost cause... how are our U-8s looking?

 

Well said. Presently the focus and excitement is totally in the WRONG direction and these folks just do not get it

 

I'm currently focused on the USBNT U-2 program. I think there's a lot of promise there, if we can just get them to slobber on the ball more like Spanish babies do- our slobbering technique is just not as developed.
