Good one Morpman. Not every thread is about development, YONKO. This one is about a specific tournament (IL State Cup) and 2 specific age groups (U14 & U15). So in this case, it is ALL ABOUT THE WINNING. Is it the most important thing in life? Absolutely not! But it is what this particular thread is about my friend.
The title doesn't say anything about winning though. And why is it all about winning at these two age groups? What difference does it make who wins State Cup? Does it mean that the winners in each age group are the most talented, the most advanced players with bright futures ahead of them? Is State Cup good enough indicator of where all the kids stand ability-wise? BTW, it should be always about development when youth soccer is discussed my friend!
Lighten up before the sudden burst of blood pressure my friend. I think you had the right attitude in your first post on March 9 engaging in some harmless predictions. Had those people damage your psyche so much that you have to defend everything said anywhere and every time? We are NOT your enemy. At the tender age of U14 and U15, the best players don't always win, we get it. Use the experience to get better, we get it....etc. Do you not get it that it is OK for the parents to take a friendly jab at each other for bragging rights ... just for once a year? Is it too much to ask the great YONKO to be tolerable ... for even once?
Go ahead, brag away, my friend. I guess this is free therapy for guys like you, sort of like compensation for some kind of shortcomings. Don't worry, I get it all, but it's you who doesn't seem to get it. My posts are intended to provoke people in one way or another. And sometimes I just like to make fun of you people, cause I know who some of you are. And you just keep giving me ammunition again and again. Most of you are no different here than you are on the sidelines. LOL Now, make sure your son is ready to win State Cup this year. Both of your lives depend on it.
From the 14/15 teams from Illinois I've seen playing MRL this season, your state cup should prove to be very interesting. Several good teams/players, academy and non-academy. I understand state cup being important (to some), but MRL is a much larger playing field with such a great variety of teams and exposure for the boys. A great week-end for MRL (wrong site I realize), but should prove to be intersting as we are getting that much closer to Regionals.
wow yonko ! your son and you must belong to weak club! so now we understand about development that is so important coming out of your mouth! are kids have been doing that since u-6 and proud to display what they learn at state cup! AFTER THAT ITS BACK TO TO TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT! OR MAYBE YOU DONT UNDERSTAND THAT! HARD TO GET THROUGH A CLOWN. TAKE CARE.
Wow, how long did it take you to come up with this "logical thinking"? My sons are too young to be thinking about State Cup and the club they are part of is good enough for now - if you must know. Youth soccer is all about learning and developing. Winning is a bonus or a result of good development, not a main goal. When players start getting paid, then winning becomes top priority. But if you have different soccer values and winning is so important to you (as well as for others), then that's your prerogative. I'll be watching State Cup games with a hope of seeing some progress made in youth IL soccer. I wanna see if the teams with big reputations play really good quality soccer. Now, can you understand that or is it too complicated for you?
It's getting pathetic. And I used to defend you ... what a fool I was. You're just another grumpy know-it-all bully after all, if you have to retaliate any contrary opinion by means of personal insults. I have some idea who you are but of course I cannot be sure (there are just so many people with connections to all the big clubs and you won't admit since your real identity is rather well known). Such a disappointment. Regardless, I wish your kids well (soccer or otherwise) though I certainly wish them growing up to be a more well-adjusted person than you my friend. p.s. You are so barking on the wrong tree on the state cup thing as mine is already signed with Crystal Palace of the Coca-Cola Championship. HaHa
Didn't take long to come up with my logic on you ! You make it to easy weak man! Stay with young kids guy ! Your opinion means nothing, talk to us when your kids are old enough! Untill then stay on the kiddie threads! Good luck!
Truth hurts, huh? At least judging by your response. I thought you like exchanging jabs....... Ok, let's not bark at each other anymore, before it gets ugly and we both regret it. But seriously, why winning State Cup is so important to some people? Is it pride or is it some sense of fulfillment? Don't you think that when a coach senses that he has this type of parents, then that puts extra pressure on him to win instead of focus on continuing the development of the players? Is State Cup a competition that truly shows the level of progress that teams/players make? And you can talk to me when your "logic" gets better. My experience goes beyond the age of my kids. Yours ends on the tip of your nose.
Figures! I dought you know the game at all! My noses is longer then your experience. Go back on the kiddies threads and gain the experience.
Then you must have an elephant's nose. LOL. Now I know that you are stupid and ugly. Does your sweat run backwards away from your face?
Whether or not it's about winning or development, all I know is the Eclipse U14B look like they will be able to continue their "development" well into June by inching oh so close to winning (through development) their MRL premier division thus qualifying for the R2 "development" Championships. Earning a spot at R2 by winning their MRL group, they are able to train/develop well into June. AND if they win R2, they will continue their development well into July. I guess it can be said that thanks to winning they are able to continue training (which is good for everyone).
Like which MRL games? Which teams have already qualified to play in post-state cup competition and how do you all think that will affect their focus at IL state cup? U15 Lemont has already qualified for what is it, Nationals? Has U14 Eclipse already qualified for Regionals? Although this thread is about state cup, I know that the folks in a big state like Illinois hope their boys and girls can compete on a regional or even national level. MRL is a good way to get some kind of idea. It is too bad the Michigan academy teams have downplayed MRL to focus on their U14 academies for this reason. It is always good to see how your players match up against players from other areas. You may think your little Johnnie or Mandy is such a good player on such a good team and then you run into a team from another area that is technically, tactically, mentally, and physically better on the field than your players and you see how much more you need to raise the bar to get to that next level. By the way, at U14 boys state cup, an unseeded team that I wouldn’t want to run into is the Cicero Mayas. Any other unseeded teams at either U14 or U15 that could give teams a good match?
I agree with you ,since the g-force split themselves into three teams and all three of those teams are unseeded. itcould be dangerious for the eclipse but not so much for the sockers. I know the Eclipse wants to win but they are in anyways so the do not need to win. The sockers need to win and they have the talent to win and the easier draw ,if you look at the results from MRL and some tournement in the past few weekends I would say that the MRL is watered down after looking at a few teams this past weekend. At least at the U 14 level. My pedictions Sockers U14 Magic U-15 let the games begin
Really? That's interesting. Well, you can see I'm a Barca fan ( for 20 years now ), so it should be easy to guess what type of soccer I like - tiki taka style. There are other teams in that age group who play good soccer though. So it should be interesting to see how they all match up come June. Have you started looking for players for "your team" already? I will even let you pick the players for mine. j/k
i was out in rockford this weekend watching the MRL games, i watch the u-14 wolves and talked to some of the parents, i asked how they felt that some of there best players were doing DA? they said that all thier players are still doing MRL, and that they were the same team that won regionals. they said they are off to rough start. as for MAYAS did nike cup and lost MAGIC PRE ACADEMY 4 TO 2! I WILL TAKE U-14 ECLIPSE AND LEMONT U-15 TO WIN STATE. AS FOR MRL U-14 ECLIPSE TOOK FIRST PLACE IN PR. BLUE
Did you lose the kiddie thread again yonko the clown! By the comments you make i know you dont have a clue about the game.
I seen Scott Gallagher pre-Academy/top team playing in MRL a couple weekends back. They are a very robotic team, play decent possession but they dont do anything in the final 3rd of the field where it matters. I spoke to some of their parents and they claim the team to beat at the U14 level in the region is the U14 Eclipse. U14 Eclipse dismantled them in MRL in St.Louis several weeks back. Scott Gallagher parents could not believe the discipline and creativity of the Eclipse players. I believe the final result was 7-0 Eclipse. Not that scores really matter but it is a reflection of the staggering differences in level of play. DA's need to be aware not to turn their players in to typical U.S. robotic type players and should focus more on creativity. If you get a chance to watch Eclipse U14 this spring you would really be impressed with their openess to the game and freedom in their movement. I was really impressed watching them. Too many of these MRL/DA teams pack the box and play "Dog Ball" but the U14 Eclipse actually plays soccer-it is a breath of fresh air to see this in American youth soccer.
Michigan Wolves have not neglected MRL this Spring. They have only lost 2 games. Their top players, including 4 National ODP n 7 Regional ODP players are on the team-it is the exact same team that has won Midwest Regionals from last year. They lost 1-0 to Classics out of Ohio, not overly talented but work very hard-Wolves really should have won this game. They lost 5-0 to an impressive Eclipse U14 team. Wolves kept game close until half time but could not deal with Eclipse offensive creativity and style of play. Eclipse players have such free flowing movement and Wolves were reduced to playing kick ball in an attempt to keep game close. Eclipse Midfielders scored 3 goals and forwards scored twice with 5 assists from 5 goals-it is a well balanced attack with a lot of creativity. I was surprised Wolves had very little of anything going forward especially with all of their highly decorated ODP Blah Blah Blah players-very Robotic.
Chicano10 dont you agree that watching many of these youth soccer teams - coaches have adopted tactics to keep game's close rather than promoting movement and openess. The Eclipse coaching staff provides an excellent opportunity for players to be creative as well as disciplined, but promoting the openess of the game as we see in many European systems. I read somewhere that Eclipse U14 boys only beat OP Eagles out of Ohio in MRL 1-0. But from what I heard from Eagles TA was that Eclipse U14 Boys dominated entire game but missed many many chances in front of net. Score was not indicative of how game was played. OP TA said their team crossed midfield on only 4 occasions the entire game. Anyone know any more information on this game from MRL.
