this would be fantastic, and if you brought in the right opponent, would sell out....

I like the 2nd idea quite a bit...

Also keep in mind that Jay DeMerit gets to play a home game (being a Green Bay native :) )

Lambeau is not a field that would present itself as being any more than 110 X 65 or 70 at the most for soccer.

Well this has been the best idea i have heard in a while!!!!

All of you would be amazed at the numbers for this game. I bet it will sell out, if it happens.

According to the article it would be for a friendly, so I am guessing size restrictions would not matter.

There's no way a reasonably sized soccer field could fit there. It would be far worse than the China game unless they somehow managed to remove the first few rows of seats.

a football field is 160 feet (53.3 yards) so maybe you could squeeze it out to 60 yards wide at the most

A soccer field would fit fine... The corners would be a little tight. A USMNT game there would sell out for sure. People just want to experience the stadium and Packer tickets are hard to come by. Lambeau fits about 72,000 fans, and most would root for USA, except maybe vs. Mexico or Germany. Regardless it would be a great atmosphere. Brazil would be the best opponent. I have waited for a USMNT game at Lambeau and now it looks like it could happen. Yea.

Well, it won't be Brazil in Lambeau anytime soon. Not unless they're really trying to nail that IL/WI soccer market.

I read it too, it would be great but it's a decade away unless they see how it would work before the a biggie.

I don't know what to make of all this ... This Green Bay Press Gazette story has quotes from a stadium official that makes it sound impossible. JS story was more hopeful.

Yes, he answered my question, it seems as though they are optimistic because all they need to do is throw out 2 rows of seats to fit the pitch, and by 2022, they'll be able to make those changes.

One thing everybody is forgetting about Lambeau - the crest of the field. Seats can be removed, but some serious field renovations would have to take place to get rid of the hill. I don't think it would be financially feasible to do this just for a friendly. Some first round WC games? Yes. A friendly? No way. I realize other markets have made this work, but they had systems in place already (see Foxboro and now Gillette), but obviously never has Lambeau Field. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see a game there, but it would have to be a very high profile one for this to make any sense.

I haven't ever noticed a hill at Lambeau. In fact, that would probobly be a violation of some kind if it was really THAT noticeable.
