If you like the show you should check out the film "In the Loop" it's a spin-off of the show, Malcom included.
The last episode of Community was one of the most creative, awesome things I've ever seen on television.
Anyone watching the new shows on HBO - "Girls" and "Veep"? The former is pretty bad; I don't understand what the critics like about it. "Veep" is just meh.
I tried to watch the first episode of Girls but it was horrible and I stopped 15 minutes in. Same with Veep. I get what HBO are going for but she cannot carry that role.
I have watched all 6 episodes so far of girls..........and it never stops being horrible. It's just self indulgent droll. While I am sure it is probably a realistic representation of some people's lives its just not worth having on television. Waits for SM to chime in about it being the best thing on TV presently and all the borders it's pushing and about how it's more than television and is in fact art.
I don't know where to post this. But I took away all cable all FSC, FSC plus, Fox sports deportes, espn, espn 2, relying only on sopcast and espn3. It's saving a good amount. I had Verizon Fios which i didn't like but if anybody has a cheap alternative, it would be greatly appreciated.
Yeah exactly, my speed now is 25/25 mbps which works perfectly with sopcast (Bloodzeed, etc... ). I have no idea how **************** work, and I always try to join a forum but the moderator needs to approve it etc...
**************** are dead simple to use, pretty much all you need to do is downlod uTorrent (it's free software and commonly accepted on most trackers) then it can detect your download and upload settings automatically and change it's settings for upload and download limit. Try and join bitsoup.org it's a private tracker and really good for Television shows and films, I use it myself for US produced programming. Once you use **************** you'll wonder how you ever lived without them.
I just downloaded utorrent, so after joining the site, I would download it then play it immediately, nothing too complicated. I am probably the most untech savy dude you'll find for my age. Edit: What about football ****************? I know maxxed is not let me register.
For Football **************** I use a site called "thebox.bz" It's a private tracker that uploads every Show that's shown on UK Television and radio (even advertisements if you're that way inclined). It only uploads UK made shows and Sports made for the UK (e.g. It will show European Champions League matches that are shown on Sky and ESPN ect, but not US Based sports) It's top class if you can get on there.
Girls is one of the best shows on TV right now. For those opposed I'd like to see 3-5 reasons as to why you think it's such a bad show. I'm already anticipating two of them. I haven't gotten into Veep yet. Waiting for it to finish it's debut season first. Mad Men is head and shoulders above anything else on television today and GoT's 2nd season has been better than the first. In fact, it's been incredible. Parks and Recreation's 4th season was great as well, not as good as Season 3 though (very few things are).
Sure, but you're reasons must follow. 1. It's better written than 90% of other television shows out there today. Lena Dunham's scripts are tight, and she's done more to develop the characters in 6 episodes than most writers can accomplish in 6+ seasons. Furthermore, storylines that make you go "Oh god, I know exactly where this is going and I've seen this a million times before" never seem to go down that route. There are few cliches. 2. It's unabashedly honest. "Girls" doesn't sugar coat anything. That means nudity, selfishness, entitlement, etc. 3. The acting is really good. The main four cast members have been excellent in their respective roles thus far. And the supporting cast is also really strong. 4. It's highly original. It's a show about the lives of four (specifically one) privileged twentysomething trying to find her way in a society that she's finding owes her nothing. It's also a pretty damn good spotlight on the "Gen Y'ers". Yes, I am one of them. However, unlike so many other shows that try to capture a generation "Girls" does so in a manner that captures what it's like to generally be someone in it*. 5. The direction of the show is top notch. The way Lena Dunham and her staff manage to piece together storylines and individual narratives has been strong in every episode. Even if one or two character arcs is not particularly captivating, it's still well done. *This has been one of the biggest criticisms of the show so far. That it is unrepresentative of it's generation or society at large. First off, the show is not trying to be anything that it already isn't. It's about privileged twentysomethings living in Brooklyn trying to find their way. Dunham's character Hannah is not someone that we're really supposed to like, or even really be able to identify with. She's supposed to piss us off and make us realize how selfish she is. But in the general sense, it captures a lot of what her generation is like. One other thing that people criticize the show for: a lack of racial diversity. It's not racist or ignorant in the least. It's not unreasonable to assume these characters would associate with each other. The show isn't about race. Not everything has to be. It's actually above that, and it needn't be a discussion by others who misunderstand the point. It's your turn now.
To me personally (having seen all episodes so far, being the US Summer there really isn't anything else to watch (So being better than 90% of what's on TV right now doesn't count for much), Mock the Week will be back soon and easily be the best thing on TV) it just fulfils none of the reasons that make me want to watch a TV show, at least one of these should be fulfilled: It fails to educate me as I am yet to learn anything about a social circle that I don't understand it's reasoning or context in society, this isn't like learning about youth cultures of the 1970s in a Post-war Britain attempting to live far beyond their countries economic means or something else that is distant enough from my own lifestyle to need a light shined on it. It bills ITSELF as a comedy, though I am yet to find much at all to make me laugh in it, if I found humour in the ridiculousness of peoples ignorance and self centredness I'm sure I could find plenty in other tripe such as Jersey shore of others of those trashy type shows. Real life can be very funny (Look up the short lived two series British Show "Early Doors" nothing amazing about their plotlines or overly witty dialogue, but genuinely funny), this just isn't. Sometimes you watch a show for escapism, there is nothing in the world that they portray in this show that behaves in that manner. I could live this life easily myself if I bent over and shoved my head up my own ass. Just because something is an accurate portrayal doesn't make it worth watching, it has to be something interesting in the first place and this just isn't that. If you're going to see self entitled 20 something's I'd rather at least hear what they think about more than just their boy troubles and lack of ability to pay rent. This is the generation of the '99%' bullshit, they obviously have an opinion on and a high opinion of themselves and their thoughts. They're just dull.
To Sum it up. Girls is the television equivilant of "Euro Truck Simulator" Sure it may be a good representation of something that is experienced by some people. But it just wasn't worth telling me about.
You're overly You're overly simplistic interpretation or understanding of the show means that you won't ever like the show. The storytelling, direction, production, acting, and pretty much everything else about it are better than 90% of TV right now. When I say right now I mean in production, not just the stuff that's currently airing right this very second. To even compare it to Jersey shore is laughable at best. I do agree with you about the "It bills itself as comedy" bit. It's more of a dramedy. I laugh pretty often at the show though. Then again, I have a very open sense of humour.
This point would be more valid if TV wasn't so shit. I cannot stand the vast majority of TV. I'd say that there are maybe 15 series that I am even mildly interested right now.
Really? I would strongly argue that television has been in a golden age since The Sopranos started. Off the top of my head: The Wire The Sopranos Arrested Development Mad Men Breaking Bad Louie Deadwood Luck Parks and Recreation Community Girls Luck Game of Thrones Homeland Curb Your Enthusiasm Boardwalk Empire Friday Night Lights For me and a lot of others, those shows are either really good, great, or legendary.
